       @dalias @lispi314 The main point is that the *technology* (later NNTP, not early CNews etc.) was well suited to current needs. IMO better than ActivityPub and particularly the Mastodon implementation which is a trash fire. Some future utopia might be neither Reddit nor fediverse, but I suspect will bear more resemblance to the latter.

It will lie to you about something as basic as *what you're seeing* - in more ways than almost anyone realizes. It will lie to you about what's a threat, what's important, how you should feel, who you should trust. The list just never ends. *Your brain lies.* Accept that as fact, and learn to compensate for it.
