It has taken me a while to poke around in KJK’s extensive YouTube output and trace the quoted snippet: see 1.19.30 to1.20.00. You are, of course, right that she did not name names. Her statement was a general one. I continue to be irritated by the person who posted that snippet elsewhere on YouTube and captioned it inaccurately as ‘Posie Parker trashes Graham Linehan over trutrans tweet’, implying a specific attack on Debbie Hayton, Miranda Yardley and Corinna Cohn. I’ve already said what I think about Miranda Yardley and Corinna Cohn. And I’ll add that I think it is sad that we’ve lost Miranda’s voice. He was for some time an articulate and effective critic of transgenderist misrepresentation and nonsense.

Good piece by Robert Jensen on Counterpunch: Drag Story Hour and Cultural Appropriation:Challenging drag has been a part of a feminist critique of patriarchy for decades. Feminists who hold such views would be easy for reporters to interview. But the mainstream conversation is framed as left versus right, diversity and acceptance versus tradition and control. Journalists, searching for language that seems neutral, often end up implicitly endorsing the liberal view, such as in this New York Times report: “Friction has been building along with the popularity and mainstream presence of drag performances, which are often a kind of variety show in which gender assumptions are challenged through dress and makeup, dance and song.”Here’s some alternative language: Drag is a kind of hypersexualized variety show, often heavy on sexual innuendo and double entendre, featuring performances by men, typically in exaggerated costumes and makeup associated with women’s objectified status in patriarchy, which claims to be breaking down gender stereotypes by caricaturing the other sex.Drag, in short, is one small part of a system of keeping women in their place.

Esther in the Bible, Joan of Arc or Elizabeth I of England. It made no sense — but today, thanks to the tireless work of gender studies departments we know the truth: those weren’t women at all. They were actually men.This weekend we had further confirmation of this revelation from the New York Times which ran a piece revealing that Louisa May Alcott, author of Little Women, was a trans man.We know this because sometimes Alcott went by “Lou” and mentioned having a “boys’ spirit.”I’m sold. I mean Alcott’s work shows an intimate and profound understanding of girlhood and womanhood. Who understands those things better than men?

Interesting article from the Guardian, published in July 2004: Sex changes are not effective, say researchers. Thanks to TriptychTwins-partdeux for drawing attention to it.I note that it was published just a few weeks after the Gender Recognition Act received the royal assent. I do wonder why the Guardian did not mention that. Maybe they ran out of space. My thanks to Zeno001 for flagging up this piece in the Telegraph about what is there described as ‘the “Agenda” pamphlet’. I did a bit of digging and found that actually there are two, one aimed at secondary and one at primary (7-11) pupils, both freely available for download here. I also discovered something that the Telegraph does not mention: these pamphlets are a project of the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, a long-established and well-respected charity. I found that troubling. I’ve dipped into them but haven’t read them right through; might manage it tomorrow. The graphic design is horrible; lots of white and coloured text on variously coloured backgrounds. I note with very little surprise that a search for ‘lesbian’ and ‘gay’ on the pamphlet aimed at secondary pupils produced only two results, both on the same page (p. 38): one in the phrase ‘Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans‘ and the other, a few lines below it, in the phrase ‘gay, lesbian, bi and trans’. By contrast, there are references to ‘transgender young people’, ‘young trans rights’, ‘Transgender through history’, ‘Individual and Family support for trans* teens’, etc., and many references to ‘gender’. In terms of emotional and intellectual development, he’s stuck somewhere in his early teens. This is not his fault, and I do not think he should be blamed for it. When he was twelve his mother Susie Green, late of Mermaids, took him to the USA where Dr Norman Spack put him on puberty blockers. At thirteen he was given estrogen to feminise his appearance. For his sixteenth birthday Susie Green took him to Thailand where in a seven-hour operation a fake vagina was carved in him into which his penis was inverted. He entertains childish fantasies and behaves like an immature idiot because he was prevented from growing up. And now he never will. I think he’s an object of pity, poor chap. I have no words adequate to say what I think about the people who are responsible for the state he is in.

@Cousin_Isobel A strict Biblical literalist or 'fundamentalist' Christian will be opposed to the beliefs and practices of transgenderists and their supporters primarily because these go against 'the Word of God', or in other words, certain passages in the Bible. For example, Genesis 1.27: 'male and female created he [God] them' and Deuteronomy 22.5, 'The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God.' In Genesis 3.16 God ordains the subordination of wives to their husbands: 'he shall rule over thee', a theme taken up in several places in the New Testament epistles. The author of the first epistle to Timothy (supposed to be the Apostle Paul) goes even further: 'I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence' (2.12). (I'm quoting from the Authorised or King James translation, since that was the translation preferred by the fundie Christians in my own family.) Not all conservative Christians are strict Biblical literalists. But I think they would generally tend to take the line that a man "living as a women" or a woman "living as a man" is in contravention of 'the Word of God'. And that is a very big deal with them.

It was the statutory DfE Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) guidance published in 2019 that really opened the floodgates with the introduction of “LGBT” into the curriculum. … The RSE guidance included a blatant Stonewall demand: that “LGBT content” should be “fully integrated into [schools’] programmes of study for this area of the curriculum”. Can anyone tell me what has happened to the 4W website? When I try to access it all I see is a report from Cloudflare: ‘Connection timed out Error code 522’. I see that the Internet Archive last saved the home page on 14th November. The next capture was on 21st November and just says ‘error code: 522’.

Today the UK Parliament recognised Lesbian Visibility Week with a debate in the House of Commons. Joanna Cherry MP gave a fine speech in which she directly challenged the alphabet soup pieties invoked by most of the other speakers:Lesbian Visibility Week should be about lesbians, but the website put up this week says it is about "celebrating the power of sisterhood by uplifting incredible LGBTQIA women and non-binary people". I think it is a real shame that, in the week about our visibility, the lesbian identity is being subsumed into a number of other identities that have nothing to do with being a same-sex-attracted woman. Many lesbians fundamentally disagree with this, and I want to speak up for them today. They need someone to speak up for them. It is a mark of how marginalised lesbians have become in our society that so few hon. Members have turned up today. It is the reason I am speaking from the SNP Front Bench, despite having been removed from it several years ago, partly for being the wrong sort of lesbian and one who does not believe that the rights of men who say they are women should trump those of lesbians.The entire speech is excellent.
