I know it'll happen eventually, but I'm really curious where the smoking gun is. Who got this ball rolling inititally? I'm pretty sure Stonewall and Mermaids are mainly instruments, mostly in it for the money (although Mermaids is probably also motivated by an attempt at normalisation of what happened to Susie Green's family. I've read about the billionaire funders, but still I don't think that's "the smoking gun" as I am contextualising it. I've just started reading up on Harry Benjamin (whose practice/work was what was later rebranded as WPATH). He's the one who started treating young kids with GID (which he thought of as Gender Dysphoria because he didn't bother to study it in any detail) with hormones as well sending kids to Europe for sex changes in the 1940s. Still researching his work in that period, not gotten to the 60s and 70s yet or how he ended up working with John Money yet. I'm guessing they jumped on the opportunity to work on David Reimer, since no other options for surgical treatment were possible in the states, due to castration being against the law.My gut feeling is the funding came around because someone was pushing gender ideology and finding people wishing to fund that.I did a random search on Youtube for "WPATH" and there were WAY more hits than I thought there would be. Many from the ch-ching guys in the states offering surgery services for people. But many, if not most, were WPATH symposiums and conferences. Those are fairly frequent and global. So I have a bit of a hypothesis. No idea if it's correct as I've not found a "smoking gun" yet and don't want to jump to any conclusions. But I think Harry Benjamin & crew (now WPATH) initially started this push towards medicalising children a very long time ago, and carried on doing so after Benjamin died. They found people invested emotionally enough to invest financially. Then they anointed themselves the standardising body. No surprises that its "standard" approach is medicalisation early and often, obviously.I want to look through the people who helped grow WPATH, from Harry Benjamin's smallish practice set up to medicalise children with GID, to present-day large global organisation. I want to understand its funding model as well and see if it crosses paths (or WPATHs? 😄 ) with those billionaire donors. So a bit more reading. It was WPATH that lobbied the DSM to use Gender Dysphoria as the diagnosis, overruling Ray Blanchard's classifications of Gender Identity Disorder and AGP. Remember WPATH started as the Harry Benjamin International Gender Dysphoria Association.Benjamin coined the phrase 'gender dysphoria' in the 1940s. In some circles it came to be known as "Harry Benjamin Syndrome.' He used basically the same medical pathway they advocate today. Socially transition straightaway, use hormones and eventually surgery.It seems like it's WPATH which is pushing this agenda. I think some of the financial donors are invested in wanting this normalised to the same degree as homosexuality. It's pretty common to want to have a class of people with a similar identity. I think Benjamin and his group want to be seen as having discovered a syndrome and are now offering up their solution. I think it's more along the lines of the doctor-god complex. Is this the origins of the cult? I remember when I used to backpack around Europe and see people setting up Dianetics symposiums; I'm wondering if these are similar. @screwreddit @DejaVu I think she’s of the mindset “my enemy’s enemy is my friend.” That sometimes means doing podcasts with people that have bad form in racial issues. And perhaps being played in some respect by the Heritage Foundation. She says things like “you don’t understand if you’ve not had kids” which makes women feel bad.Most of the big names are very left, some are Marxists feminists, and will sometimes call trans people by their preferred pronouns, if they’re willing to speak up for our side. Instead of “trans women are men” they say “trans women are trans women”. I dunno which is better. Ideologically I’m more like the latter. But we do have to accept some views will hurt our feelings, if we’re to avoid being called hypocrites. We often decry how society is trampling our rights just to avoid hurting men’s feelings.I don’t agree with fighting in public. Surely it’s easy for them to just ignore each other?

Now he’s trying buy a new image for himself. The whole “No Child Left Behind” lobby in the US (which traded rounded education for nothing but test score targets eduction) was largely funded by Gates. A whole generation of kids got a shit education because of it. (The show the “The Wire” devoted a whole season to how idiotic it was).

@FemaleIsNotAFeeling Yeah, it’s really tempting to vote right because at least they will preserve biological rights. I gave this a lot of thought. I decided it’s best to stay on the left and let them know how many of us don’t agree. They don’t get to cast us as right-wing bigots. The left has to realise the majority of opinion, both inside and outside that caucus, is biology is real and women’s rights are sex based.
