A recent selfie of a UK trans woman of indeterminate age living in TERF Island, but feeling herself again - 1. I don't "suffer" from Gender Dysphoria, but I do suffer from the UK transphobic press and cowardly politicians2. The last time I tried to access a male toilet (reasons / presenting neutral) I was politely redirected to the ladies ...! 3. My "paraphilia" is wrap tops, ideally ruched and black 😉 💅4. Trans people exist here on TERF Island, a GRC is optional, a "diagnosis" is a pure insult, and we aren't going to de-exist :verifiedtrans:5. Since joining the #Fediverse 💫 early last November I realise I have signed more UK Petitions than in the whole rest of my life ... makes me want to thank all those keeping a safe space for us as #trans :flag_transgender: by✅ Posting things (like petitions!!) that encourage *actions* rather than re-tweeting transphobia :birdsite:✅ #Allies taking and promoting tangible actions too 💜 ✅ Self-moderating and CW-ing transphobic content - yes, it does help on #MentalHealth ✅ Actively moderating at all levels eg. report-not-just-block, calling out Fediblock recommendations etc✅ Welcoming and boosting #Introduction postsComing back after few weeks time-out from our UK media (and social media) just reinforces for me how much we need a safe online space as a haven/respite I hope more continue to see the light 💡 (I still have trans friends on the birdsite) ... but one has to experience it#Transgender #Twittermigration

@BarrenPlanet As I read "that" toxic UK TERFy forum on Mumset I know 5% of them (generally ring-leaders) know feminist history but are willfully corrosive or misleading. The other 95% are priviliged middle-class, relatively affluent and when when discussion gets hard or complex at all say stuff like "then we've got to repeal the GRA 2004!"They really don't see they are part of the patriarchy. It's protectionism - for them feminism is done and dusted vs an ongoing struggle for *genuine* equalityBut I see it - women's abortion rights, easy access / no gatekeeping to post-menopausal HRT are the same vein of ongoing fight as trans folks access to HRT. But of course it's 50% of the population vs 0.x%

Four months on in the Fediverse 💫: Random learnings of a social media novice- Be human, we like that a lot- A good #Introduction post really help. If you add a cat pic with it, you're a star 😍 - Following 1.2K people becomes a recipe for home timeline insanity, trust me- More cat pics ... please?- Getting five boosts on a cooking post can mean just as much as something that goes viral ❤️ - Reply to people, chat a lot- Did I mention cats? 🐱 - A post that *does* go really viral rapidly becomes a pain-in-the-ass. Your notifications will be unusable for a day or two- Authenticity just cuts through like you cannot believe- If you are happy on your server then contribute- Thank & value your admins & mods- #Caturday regularly- The odd bit of silliness never hurts? see "Authenticity"- People here are generally very cool, make a big effort to get on ❤️For me it's been such an experiential eye-opener - like a social media sand-box?
