@Pepsi Amen.Also, breaking thumbnail links was the last straw.-site:youtube.com from video results, using Bing.(I never thought I'd recommend a Microsoft product, but here they've become the lesser evil. And DuckDuckGo now often sucks in general, but they definitely suck rocks for videos.)

@Sinistar7510 @malwaretech Decades ago in high school, as part of Latin we read about obviously-made-up stories about the death throes of the Roman Republic. Exaggerated (if not wholly fabricated) tales of political mobs attacking and even killing each other in the street, judges wildly reinterpreting the Twelve Tables (somewhat akin to our Constitution) to mean the opposite when it favored the rich/powerful, govt declaring people criminal so it could seize their property, etc.Or so I thought.

@team To counteract the effect ~they~ triggered with insane metrics for deliveries-per-hour (i.e. drivers can't afford to spend time making sure packages are properly delivered or they'll get fired), FedEx has introduced "Adult Signature".Not only do they get to charge more for it, they also get to scan your ID. That way it's your fault when a package gets thrown in the general direction of an apartment complex door, even when they have the door code, because next time use Adult Signature. 😑

@lauren Censorship is always successful in the short term, which is why it's interpreted as damage.But you're right that if a population remains complacent to levels of surveillance / brutal police state / thought control / etc that we used to hear as horror stories about life in the USSR, the reroutes become increasingly unhealthy and unproductive. (Also much like what happens when long-term depression remains un-/under-treated.)

@stux Not to mention using the same username and password everywhere. If you use a password on a website with poor security, when it's cracked the dark web will test every site for simple variations on it. (Particularly banks, cards, etc.)

@ABScientist @rchusid I wish I could do more than watch with sad bemusement, as magical thinking continues to pervade the establishment-spread COVID misinformation.People don't want to know that viruses don't obey stupid "loopholes" that feel like excuses invented by a kindergartener for why they didn't really break the rules.
