@sjw @GreenandBlack Assuming--According to Wikipedia:According to a Gigaom interview with Paul Kane, chairman of the Internet Computer Bureau, the domain name registry is required to give some of its profits to the British government, for administration of the British Indian Ocean Territory. After being questioned as a result of the interview, the British Government denied receiving any funds from the sale of .io domain names, and argued that consequently, the profits could not be shared with the Chagossians, the former inhabitants forcibly removed by the British government.

So I have ~5 acres (2Hec) in upstate NY. It's vacant. There is no electric or neighbors nearby. It's borders a county road and the CSX mainline. It's mostly flat with some wet depressions, mixed transition hardwood, ~70 years ago it was probs a sheep enclosure , and has no structures. It's 3.5Mi (5.5K) from a Walmart etc. Does anyone know of any good resources for setting up a smallholding collective (bonus points if said advice is Germain to NYS and US law)

@thomfox The account of every great anarchist who worked for the revolution is admittedly a life of failure. Yet we are still in their debt for striving and we owe their memory, dedication and love our all.Fire enough arrows and eventually you're gonna hit the bullseye comrade!

Yet another reason to be so happy with Plume blogging software! LYNX is a text based command line web browser - ideal for folks with older hardware and less bandwidth.THIS is what one of my blog posts looks like in LYNX. Granted I don't use a lot of fancy markup so that helps, but it's so clean and readable. AND even using a Pi Zero W as a client, it loads in the time it takes me to blink so well done Plume & well done Sunbeam Technowizards!!!! :_stars: 🧙♀️

So here's the problem:I have stuff I don't need - so it's just property. So do you.I don't always know someone who is in dire need of a certain thing in meatspace. Neither do you.I do know a whole bunch of people who DO know the difference between possessions and property thanks to Sunbeam City. So do you.But I don't always (ever?) have money to ship stuff via post. Neither do you.** THEREFORE **Would there be any merit to a fund that we 'Beamers could self administer by postal carrier (EG: I'm in the US) that a member could tap into to send a thing to another member who expresses a need? Maybe such a thing already exists in the 'toobs somewhere? @solarbear 's headphones need got me thinking on this. Please weigh in with your thoughts. I'll boost this again tonight when the Local is most active. Solidarity Comrades!

So I'm trying to develop a "tilde community" as an alternative creative sandbox. For a good laugh, here's how the forum is accomplished using stone tools atm. (I'll be adding bash scripts in the future to automate some of the functionality). It typifies human order in place of external control.http://www.tildecow.com/sampleforumrules.txt*WARING* I type in nano on my windowless pi so I spell like a 'murican cave man there.Attn @piponfishing , I have a URL for it now thanks to @guardthebananas Domo arigato!

@eldang Darn you for getting we wondering too! It looks like it's just phonetic chance. The Tagalog word is pretty pan Austronesian: http://www.trussel2.com/acd/acd-s_b.htm#25002 while it looks like the Haitian comes from Old Norse (baggi) by way of Old French. Seriously tho, thanks for the mind game. It was a great way to kill 1/2 Hr. How did you happen to make that discovery if I might ask?

Thoughts?I've started mulling over a blog post fleshing out p2p exchange of physical objects. It could be anonymous or face to face. I'm picturing making up wee "care packages" about the size of an Altoids tin with stuff inside. A tiny toy, some stickers, propaganda, digital media, seed packets, probably shying away from digestibles.Like those painted rocks people are leaving about, but more useful. I'm thinking to call them 'Live Drops'.Y'all got ideas peeps?

One of the best things I get to do at the thrift store:When a guardian with a boy child comes in and kid is looking for a necklace...The adult says "He's looking for a necklace - for a boy" and I bend down, addressing the kid and say "well, this is 2019 and it's okay to like any one of these necklaces."Some of the adult reactions get priceless.
