I get it, #apple is a megacorporation and they do shady megacorporation things all the time. But they are not in the wrong here. They did what they could feasibly, reasonably do while making it more difficult for the #UK to secretly rummage in the private data of their citizens and EVERY OTHER COUNTRY’S citizens.The UK’s government are the people you should be mad at, here.6/6

There are some counterprotesters at my local #TeslaTakedown event but they’re like, 3 guys in a pickup with some flags, vs. hundreds of protesters.We are not engaging with them except to say “yay for the First Amendment!” when they pass by.One of the cops here (there are a couple of police cars) went to talk to them, he did not look very happy.#USPol #USPolitics

There is a guy with a “Jude” star pinned to his sleeve walking up and down scolding people for using the word “Nazi” and swastika symbols. He also says he works with Holocaust survivors at a Tesla dealership.Mostly people are laughing at him but one of the protest marshals is trailing him.#TeslaTakedown

Oh, the pickup truck with the flags is back.There are like 50 more protesters at the #TeslaTakedown now.I think another cop car is here too. We didn’t have this many here last week but the protest is bigger and it’s the first time we’ve had counterprotesters.

A Tesla sedan with anti-Musk bumper stickers rolled past us. One passenger was holding a sign and another gave us the thumbs up.The pickup truck with the flags is still going back and forth, the Cybertruck from earlier is gone. The guy with the yellow star patch is still walking up and down and scolding people, trailed by a protest marshal. I think he called someone a Jewish Nazi.#TeslaTakedown

The #TeslaTakedown has pretty much dispersed by now. I’m off to get lunch.Not only does this event get bigger every week, it gets more elaborate and organized. We had a troupe of bucket drummers there today, and while there weren’t a lot of (or any) protest marshals to start with, today there were a bunch. They mostly come from one particular local activist group (but not the one who organized the protests).

The stock market has been a Rich People’s Feelings indicator disconnected from the prosperity and welfare of most Americans for a long time. There’s definitely some schadenfreude to be had in the fact that the Rich People are now feeling like the rest of us.

People should be able to move where they want, work where they want, and live where they want. As I have been pointing out elsewhere, the GOP wrote their #BigUglyBill so that the funding cuts to SNAP and Medicaid would not hit before January 2027, e.g., after the next midterms.But hospitals, state agencies, and many other organizations that depend on these funds budget months or up to a year in advance. They will start closing before then. The GOP should have asked an accountant before they attempted to be clever.
