@stux My father did home repairs for decades for seniors who would give him $5 and talk for 2 hours. I’ve done the same thing, more than ever since I retired myself. Aside from the fact that it seems like what one should do as a decent human being, I figure I’m building up some good karma somewhere. It won’t be that long until I’m too old to do a lot of things and I’ll need someone to help.

@stux The point of 50’s-era 90% marginal tax rates was to incent companies to invest money into their businesses. These investments were tax-deductible, thereby reducing taxes while providing a benefit to society. Merely reducing the marginal tax rate allows business and the wealthy to just hold the wealth, without producing any benefit to society. We should create a separate, higher rate structure for those who choose to leave the US while keeping all the benefits of being here.

@stux Give it 6 months. By that time Trump will have broken many, if not most of his ‘Day 1’ promises and prices will not have reduced in any meaningful way. Especially if he KEEPS his promises on tariffs. At that point we can start inserting a few ‘I told you so’s’ here and there, and by the midterms maybe we can take back Congress.

@stux I actually looked it up, thinking that this exception to minimum wage laws happened under Reagan. Nope, it was FDR and it was part of the 1938 Fair Labor Standards Act. Kind of disappointing, since that Act accomplished so many good things.

@stux If those symbols really are common indicators of MS-13 affiliation, why haven’t we seen pix of actual convicted gang members sporting the same ink? I’d think Bullshit Barbie Leavitt would have several posters of those in the WH press room to demonstrate that she is telling us the truth. You know, the truth, like she promised.

I’m guessing little of the oil money will reach actual Venezuelans since, like the Mafia, we will skim the proceeds for Trump and his cronies first, then US oil interests. What a payoff for that billion dollar campaign contribution from the oil companies!
