@mikeInteresting question. You might get some insight by considering how *natural intelligence* it's handled. The human genome, and many discoveries related to it, are largely open source.

@tinfoil_hat yes, Scihub opens access to a lot of research papers directly. Researchgate, Academia.edu are a repository, but also a communication and networking system, where researchers share projects, let others know they are reading papers, etc. I'm looking for an open source, platform coop version of that kind of thing, I don't know if it exists.

@ericbuijsApertium is very cool. Maintained by a bunch of linguists. My understanding is that Apertium is also a bit qualitatively different.. being more rules based.Also, Apertium, a FLOSS project, has been supported by Google summer of code. Perhaps someone can give some insight on that?Also check out Tatoeba.orgNot a translator. Just single sentence- sentence database.

@strypey Mastodon will also have 100 different approaches to moderation—given all the factors listed in that article 100 different approaches is certainly possible.Things will go wrong, but there won't exactly be a very clear entity to blame. Building a straw man narrative shouldn't be too hard, given that most people will not have any experience with Mastodon's federation... but the distributed nature of Mastodon means that there isn't a single target to go after.

@strypey #ISO8601 Testing and asking how you know what you know is useful for *knowledge building*. Average accuracy isn't the goal of knowledge building, knowledge is the goal.When informing action or when (for lack of a better word) betting, leaning a little more toward speculation is likely to result in more correct takes, by accepting a few bad takes. (Or use the language of type I and type II errors).

@strypey BSV itself is a can of clowns if you want to go down that rabbit hole. It's probably not an accident, it's that particular blockchain. Though, the immutability would apply to any sort of blockchain, not just BSV.The immutability has a lot of positive or at least neutral use cases as well though.

@strypey What if said law is proposed and it's possible for the #centraverse (I just made that term up, does it exist?) to comply and impossible or impractical for the #fediverse to comply.I might even expect such a law when the fediverse reaches ~150 million users.
