@pierogiburo like, there's definitely a discussion to be had about onboardingit really sucks, the first time I wanted to try fedi I couldn't find an instance that had open registrations, and only when I got tempbanned from twitter was I desperate enough to sign up at .socialbut "railroad everyone onto mastodon.social" is definitely not a good solution

I did my software developer apprenticeship in a job training center for autistic people. I only had a Quali degree, no Abitur or Mittlere Reife (Germany has three branches of high school), and even that was a fight to get, as I was in special education due to bad behavior (read: autistic with poorly treated mental health issues).The job training center was in the next bigger city, Munich, 60 km away from Augsburg, where I live. An hour by train, city center to city center. I live in a neighborhood at the edge of the city, taking me about half an hour from my apartment to the train station.The job training started at 8, and I had to leave the house at 6:15. The training was pretty school like, with an instructor in a classroom. Though the subjects were handled day- or even weekwise, instead of hourwise. We did theory and exercises, and also some other, pedagogical contents.But in Germany, most apprenticeships are formally required to follow the "dual apprenticeship" model, with about a quarter of the time spent in a public vocational school. Which vocational school one goes to, is defined by the location of the apprenticeship, not the place of residence.So I had to go to Munich for vocational school. Classes started at 7:30 on most days. The vocational school was also at the periphery of Munich, requiring a subway ride and then either a long walk or a bus ride, compared to the job training where it was 10 minutes of walking from the main train station.This meant leaving the house at the unholy time of 5:15 on vocational school days. I often was so tired I slept at the desk.

I think this aggressive stance towards privileged people, as seen in many leftist spaces, is harmful. Individual privileged people usually have no control over the circumstances that made them privileged. People don't choose to be white, cis or neurotypical in the same way people don't choose being black, trans or autistic, and blaming them for their privilege on an individual level is ridiculous.And I'm saying that as someone marginalized in many ways.It doesn't make you a bad person to not want to be constantly shoved with education about how bigoted the world is. In fact, the way how this constant reminder hurts you is a sign that you actually care about the issues. Yet some leftists treat all privileged people as if they were the average, uncaring normie.

@icedquinn @kaia the parking disc is used for spaces that are free of charge and only time limited.For paid roadside parking spaces, there's usually a machine that dispenses a ticket with the time until which it is valid printed on it.
