@w3c chief editor on that vision is Chris Wilson (Google).uh-huh, sure, you keep at that.As much as I know it's important to keep manufacturers in the discussion of standards bodies in order I do wonder that, if this really is the W3C's true vision, it might be time to start putting more independent advocates in key higher positions.

@EU_Commission Don't propagate "personal consumer responsibility". If it is available for purchase, don't complain when people purchase itm If certain chemicals are not safe, they should be regulated. If only there were some kind of multinational trading bloc that could make these kinds of decisions...

@nickcolley @benjojo It's illegal to ask for data that isn't specifically required for delivering the service. I guess that's how they justify data prediction - just that it means they don't have to ask for it.Data protection allows to to request that any decisions made about you not be done via automated processes if you are not happy with the result. So I guess you could demand that discord have a human manually go through the data and decide your gender for you, and discord would be legally compelled to do so? If enough people demanded that it would certainly bog them down.

@clive I always hated this aspect of English class in school. (It didn't help that I found the texts set by our teacher intensely boring and so the quest for symbols was pointless). I'm not sure if this is still how literature is taught, but there has to be a better way to help kids appreciate writing. I am very glad that this Bruce actually sent the letters away, I always thought about asking authors this but never had the guts to really do it.

@clive I guess they don't realise that some of those desires (working healthcare, free electricity) could be on the cards for real if they voted for a green socialist.It's sad to know people think like this, and also scary. Both for what it implies about the world, and also what is the risk I could fall into one of these conspiratorial rabbit holes.

Across continental Europe, from the continent to the british isles, between Ireland and the UK, between the constituent countries of the UK, and even some that have left the UK and Europe altogether to live further afield. They are not strangers to me, and nor are any migrants that have chosen to live in my community. Londoners aping xenophobic rhetoric absolutely are strangers to me, and risk causing more damage to our country's well being than any migrant.

@davidrevoy I'm loving this mini series. The need for cash investment in education vs compromising on tech is a very real problem.I've had a thought - Familiars are meant to form a special bond with a magic user to help guide them along their own unique path. If they all have the same familiar then, even if it did work, that would really hurt their culture overall. It would become too homogeneous.
