@hetzner Some sprinkle of marketing is completely ok, if it comes with a success story or an use case I maybe didn‘t think of right now. I know that as a for-profit company you have to sell something. As long as you‘ll do it reasonably and with tech and background info, go for it. Just don‘t get into the car salesman habit. 😎@kayssun

@tomjennings Geez, I actually worked with ed back in the CP/M days! Thanks for bringing back a traumatic experience. 😝 😎 After that, edlin was like progress…OTOH, back then you could call a software shop and get forwarded to the devs instead of brining in the first-level AI hotline hell for hours. 😆

@tomjennings I think I get your point, maybe storage was too much of an issue back then (my first Palm had the US Robotics Logo on it). otoh, Hyperlinks took way to long to enable to share „just a link“. I remember how much I would have liked to share things the way you described, but a link was only a link to a web page. Nowadays links are capable of doing a lot more, but with device storage from 500Gigs upward, sharing the items directly would make much more sense.

@tomjennings @tante @festal Maybe not necessarily a body, but a world model and a sense of self. And you‘re right, causality needs understanding. Currently there‘s only (although quite sophisticated) implementations of the chinese room.

@tomjennings @tante @festal Oh, I mean a *human* body (English is not my native language). I totally agree with you about required hardware. What I meant (and a lot of SciFi writers 😉) is that it might be irrelevant if you run on wetware or silicon or sth else. Yes, you‘d need sensors, proprioreceptors, senses, but given that, there could be a world model and ground knowledge. 1/2

@andi Stark! Wie bist Du mit dem CrowView zufrieden? Den hatte ich auch schon im Blick (suche immer noch den idealen portablen USB-C Monitor, der ohne zweites Kabel für den Strom auskommt).
