@mwlucas@bsd.network I would insist my childhood apple basic code was worse, but I'm pretty sure it thankfully no longer exists as anything but repressed shame.

Today's completely non-controversial opinion: Every last copy of Microsoft Outlook should be deleted along with the source code and all remaining evidence of it's existence should be prefaced with the, "This is not a place of honor," text.

gigglesMy mom grounded me for a month. An interminable month, spent locked up in our little home, with nothing to do but knit and practise my meagre reading skills on the few books we had.I hated knitting.I knit an entire sweater for my mom. @Azure@tailswish.industries there's truth in Schlock Mercenary's Maxim 29 "The enemy of my enemy is my enemy's enemy. No more. No less."

Good Lord! A fanfic author just invented something that would have me willing to risk a visit to the Worm-verse. (Not move there permanently, but at least visit. But preferably just import DVDs from) They've ruled that in their AU "Taylor gets a different power" fic, because there was no Star Trek (to avoid akwardness as it's a sorta Trek crossover) Sir Patrick Stewart was free to get tapped to play The Doctor, revitalizing the series such that it didn't go off the air. I want those DVDs!

Hmm, so I know that the 6502, 65816, and Z80 are still manufactured. The 8086 apparently not, but the 80186 is. And Apparently the 680x0 as well? Am I missing anything here?

If you're going to ask a judge to let you remain free on bail pending an appeal, you might maybe not want to be discovered to have purchased a one way ticket out of the country (Theranos Elizabeth) https://www.businessinsider.com/elizabeth-holmes-theranos-plane-ticket-mexico-judge-bail-2023-4

@tek@freeradical.zone I recently brought this up at work, "You do realize here at Mumble College we're in violation of NIST security standards for forcing password changes on a regular schedule, right?" I'm also a bit amused that one of the authors of the current standard was the guy who originally proposed requiring scheduled changes and complexity requirements (shades of the guy who wrote the book alpha wolf/wolf pack behavior tropes come from)

A timeline in which the Apple III launched without the infamous hardware issues providing Apple with a computer assumed at the business market a year before the IBM PC was released. Early 1982 Apple demos the III plus with a 2MHz 6502 and optional 2MB banked memory RAM in their now famous David vs Goliath ad comparing VisiCalc running on both systems with the PC encountering an out of memory error. The Apple III-16 is announced two years later, bumping the CPU to the 65A16.

Fanfic comments reminded me running across a pre-fall of the USSR essay in the early 90s that looked at MAD and said, "Okay, sure, mutually assured destruction has held off WWIII so far, but it's failure state is the utter collapse of civilization. One slip up and it's all gone. Let's replace Mutually Assured Destruction with Assured Survival." Proposing as a start mass produced and proliferated anti-ballistic missile Missiles and a, "Any launch on any target will be intercepted," policy.
