@astarsscreams @ChasingWaterfalls Much the same in my fam. It was intended that their religion be passed along but not the German and Dutch-German they grew up with. Sure "westerners" may not have colourful or extreme practices in our national behaviours, but that's OUR CULTURE. Fed up with people trying to change it for the worse. Fed up with being expected to include the culture of others while my own was wiped out - even though I don't much care about it as we weren't explicitly taught to 'keep the culture' it was implied in everything the ancestors did. Then I don't know exactly what happened. I do remember ages ago in Thailand (early 90's?) and being pestered by I believe it was a Swiss woman tourist who was all bent out of shape because North Americans talk about 'our culture' but we don't even have a 'national costume'. FFSAfter that I didn't give a shit about 'culture' at all. How ridiculous to reduce it to a national song and outfit.

@carolen @HebrideanHecate Of course gay guys are some of the biggest 'hobbyists' so would have torn control away from those who worked in such places and actually gave a shit. I'm so unimpressed with gay men in general these days. But I could be way off track here. @HebrideanHecate @virvallis @Flick I've personally never understood the magically overrated appeal of pizza. I put it down to being mildly allergic to tomatoes but for me, there are just so many more delicious things to eat that are less problematic for my diet.For a while there I was just crazy about a type of Persian flatbread which is easily found here. I would just brush it with olive oil then make what was essentially a salad with a fair bit of freshly grated cheese in it (no cukes or lettuce tho) and pile that on top of the flatbread and bake it in the oven. Now that was worth eating. Nowadays I'm off all breads except organically made soda crackers because the flour here (unless you pay a fortune for organic) is full of glyphosate and there is at least one other woman on Spin besides me who's problems likely resulted from 'over-glyphosatiation' or something like that! It's so disgusting and no one is willing to do anything about it here.

@HebrideanHecate @Flick Compared to alcohol, cannabis is a healing agent for many. I know tons of people who smoke and eat it and none of them are psychotic, much violent. They all lead fruitful lives. IN my entire life I've met one guy who was allergic to it and one guy who was already bipolar and discovered that weed made him more manic. I've known people who say it makes them more anxious but then they just stop using because weed isn't particularly addictive for most people. Yet coke and crack, meth, fentanyl turn people into such zombies, no one knows what to do with them so they are let to rampage and do anything illegal to get MORE. They destroy their fams, friends and clog up the courts. There are bound to be some people who cannot handle any drug yet our whole society is geared towards getting people on extremely dangerous prescription drugs because they are so much more profitable. I do agree that children should not have access to illegal drugs (though cannabis is more or less legal here) and that includes weed. Unfortunately govs of all sorts are shirking their own and the role of society in helping kids to get through life without booze and drugs. IMAGINE that govs would actually help to make a difference in the overuse of drugs but they think money and power are their only real resposibilities. Going easy on dangerous drugs, even the overuse of less addictive and dangerous ones was a stupid stupid move for Canada to make and most of that is because we had a TRUDEAU who is adores ALL the underdogs, ESPECIALLY TRANNIES who have a high rate of addiction issues and now it's WE who were never a problem who have to suffer the consequences.

@Flick What's annoying about this is that there really isn't a great need for computers and various other electronics to control every aspect of our life and there are other profitable ways to use more abundant resources - like PEOPLE'S LABOUR. They tried to convince us that rare earths for electronics is such a moral imperative that special ships or other gadgets need to be built so they can scrape together the tiny amount they might find at the bottom of the sea, ALONG with every other single lifeform that lives there. Men just hate the idea that their own nonsense about endless progress is nothing but an egotisitic fuckup. Carnage of Canada thinks pipelines are BORING. He'd rather have data mining or whatever the latest short term electronic fashion might be. He's also so stupid he thinks we don't need to provide anything of value when you can just get computers to put more zeros after every price. @RadicalCartoons @AnungIkwe EXACTLY. "Trans" is just a shortcut that's become politically correct for now. We could call them 'AGP widows' or 'porn widows' or whatever. It doesn't look like perverted men are going to stop convincing women to get into relationships so there has to be some sort of warning for women who are heedless about such things. And YAY for any ADULT woman who's finally started to stop ignoring the problem. They can take what they want out of our women's movement just like they have been all along. Or not. If they don't want the support of other women, that's their prerogative. At the same time, no one can really gate keep a set of ideas such as feminism. Better to ignore the women who are pissing you off because they aren't sufficiently feministic than to try and control the entire narrative so it is WOMEN who end up suffering the most as is usual. Meanwhile the rest of us canaries are still trying to figure out how not to let perverted MEN take away the few gains we've made by pretending to be us. FFS a big clue would be if everyone stopped just believing in any (OLD) new religion or other belief system that comes along. But we know that won't happen as now during every regular cold season, doorknobs don their magical face diapers.

@AnungIkwe I think a few cracked up, got sick, got old and tired but I recognize a lot of names that are still active. I am curious about what happened to a lot of the women who were protesting locally but I'm now too old and sick to even keep track of my own fam well enough. Hey all my friends! Season's Greetings and Happy New Year. Hope you're all doing well. Unfortunately I've been crap and still am. Also need a new keyboard or whole new computer. And a whole new body.
