@progo Something akin to entrepreneurship courses would be a great solution. Almost none of my professors had ever set foot outside the ivory towers of academia in their careers, so there was little guidance from them. When my alma mater learned I was actually using my degree in a large corporation, I was invited to all kinds of calls and student networking events. Those invites stopped after I told the students that I didn't need grad school to get to where I am. 😅

@progo It seems experience is the best teacher no matter the field of study. I can't even imagine what's being taught in either of our fields these days, inside those ivory towers.

@carolen Thank you so much for this! I have a ton of green tomatoes on my plants and would love to do something other than fried green tomatoes. I also never realized a US pint is 4 ounces less than a UK pint. It must be disappointing for travelers from the UK to order a pint of beer and get 20% less than they're used to 😆

@carolen I went to a wedding where both bathrooms had been converted to unisex. It was unnerving to walk in and see a line of dudes occupying the urinals. Glad I didn't have a young daughter with me at least.

@carolen That sort of social etiquette is so far gone that I didn't even bat an eye at someone taking a phone call in the bathroom 😅 The worst is someone talking on speakerphone anywhere in public.

@eriner I've been tempted to take over Thanksgiving from my mother-in-law so that I can try doing turkey on the smoker (despite never having cooked a turkey via any method in my life 😅)

@truthbait Spot on - it's an incredibly welcoming and supportive group. Definitely didn't mean to sound like I was mocking them (the owners and employees of our range have become close friends over the years and we've helped each other in some rough times)

@LoriQuaid Working with mostly women, I am amazed at how comfortable they are openly bashing on "straight white men" despite all the corporate trainings about discrimination, etc.

Beyond the obvious social pandering many brands love to do, it's hard to ignore that this is a lazy product development exercise in an attempt to garner incremental sales. Repackage the same doll with different accessories to make her look stereotypically "autistic" - soooo innovative, Barbie.
