I don't understand people whose only issue with Twitter is the new owner. A prominent infosec person has been gripey about Mastodon from day 1 and is now promoting Bluesky.I hear things like "Bluesky is better!" Wow you think. Twitter was great, until it wasn't. It didn't start getting really bad until 2014 or so. It didn't even get the algorithmic timeline until 2016. Bluesky is another corporate thing that will follow the same path chasing the same incentives. Its promoters haven't shown me anything that will make it different.I'm going to have an account and crosspost my jokes and stuff just because it's clear a narrative is forming that it's The Twitter Replacement, and people like this will make it inevitable. I'll take advantage of it to build my own platform, independent of anything, even Mastodon or ActivityPub, for the few years it takes to turn into a trash heap. But I know how this goes.

I don't have it as bad as most in #TransCrowdFund I'm nonbinary, but AMAB and can kind of sort of pass if I ever had to go back in the closet.But things are getting worse, and I'd like to have the means to get the hell out of Georgia if this "purple wave" proves to be short lived. @anderspuck Twitter never sent much traffic my way in all the 15 years I used it. Mastodon was so much better right from the outset, even when it was a single server and a handful of people.
