@GLFC @foxhkron Seattle has so many problems.Instead of one or two really good, comprehensive transit solutions, they have - what, half a dozen? There's link, the trolley, buses, ferries, the sounder, the monorail - and they are all disparate because of local topography, and terribly disjointed planning. Rail has hard limits to slope handling (leave funicular solutions out because they don't exist), the monorail goes on one line, and basically hardly even does that, link is great for the airport or MLK but irrelevant throughout most of the region, this goes double for Sounder, and the buses are great if you have a Kindle and a lot of reading to get through before you reach your destination.They make more sense if viewed through the lens of creating excuses to raise taxes, rather than actually achieve anything.As an added cherry on the shit sundae, Seattle's notoriously car-hostile (and vandals like the Critical Mass idiots don't help) which is bad for business on top of everything else.Thank the powers of darkness I'm long out of there. I don't see them unfucking themselves for a decade at least.

@deprecated_ii For what it's worth, that is roughly the middle school level of education. High school should, in theory at least, teach analysis.It would be great if universities went beyond this, and in theory they should.But they don't. Not reliably. Not regularly.

@TheThunderKunder Theory: teach kids how to control their emotions, have fewer outbursts, be more productive pupils, etc. etc. etc. Stop the gang violence, improve mental resilience. All good things, you get the idea.In practice: teachers really aren't qualified therapists, kids are individuals with their own temperamental characteristics, the supposed basis of teaching ranges from baffling to creepy, and somehow previous generations managed to turn out OK when the closest thing to therapy was beatings by peers on the playground, and beatings by teachers in the classroom.Of all the things to spend educational dollars on, this one is so near the bottom it's sucking up mud.
