So I do genealogy. I have 4 union vet ancestors, and I was FINALLY able to prove a confederate. Brother had a hard life. 13 kids total.

Apparently the VA will make/pay for headstones for those men that do not have a marker. I just applied for one for my Mr. Hamner.

So i have 4 Union vet ancestors and finally got a confederate vet proved. The man died in 1911 and has no marker, outside of kansas city. The VA will provide a marker for those without, and the local SCV camps will do a grave dedication ceremony and want me to speak, which Ill do.

@Phil I don’t know how anyone lives at this point. I do moderately well, but what i have materially is a pittance compared to my blue collar father. He retired at the age I am now, and I’m going to have to work until I drop.
