When your foundation of knowledge is based on something with no evidence for it's existence other than your own feelings, you can justify belief in absolutely any bullshit. Besides, political cartoons are ridiculous nowadays. They only depict extreme caricatures of the ideas they portray, so that eventually the readers become reactionary stereotypes for the opposite. Whatever.

@meowski Memes in general are unfunny. For something to become popular, it needs to be aimed the lowest common denominator. So you end up with mediocre jokes that are "#relatable!!!!" to everyone, and end up being forgotten in weeks.

Video games are all right. I feel like it's a thing of my past, though. I'd like to keep it that way. So many of the people I see get really into video games seem like they're chasing nostalgia. It feels like they've become emotionally dependent on their consumerism. Same with anime, really. I'm rarely able to have nuanced discussion on this. I think it's a symptom of modern consumerism--"fandom culture" I guess you could call it.

@jeffcliff @ArdanianRight It was always biased. It's just that now, companies have learned to capitalize on the now public figures' biases--or create them by tossing some cash around. With all the "Term and Conditions", people forget that the big tech corporations can do whatever the fuck they want when you use their site, and that their main incentive is money. That's why decentralization needs to be the future of the internet.

@jeffcliff @ArdanianRight There are loyalists for every revolution, I assure you. Time and time again, convenience persists where morality fails. Sure, people may cry when their favorite creator gets "demonetized", but who cares at the end of the day? YouTube's brand is what they sell now, not the service. The service may be inadequate compared to its competitors, and even unjust. But only governments take down monopolies.
