@mike I also have just always struggled to understand the mindset of someone who would consciously *prefer* to scroll a bunch of headlines and summaries, knowingly depriving themselves of additional context that the journalist who wrote it thought was relevant to include.I understand the anxiety of FOMO, but when it comes to ones' understanding of current events and literal sense of broader reality, doesn't it make more sense to give your brain a fuller picture?

@mike @freezr @molly0xfff It bugs me that "content" has become such a dirty word. I blame the social media companies that intentionally conflated the terms "content" and "copy" because while nobody wants to make copy for free, that's exactly what content becomes when it's shared to a for-profit social media platform. The companies don't care if you're "connecting with an audience" they only care that you're influencing that audience's behavior (the definition of copy).

@ZachWeinersmith I think it's important to discern between "intelligence" and "sentience" or even "personhood" and "humanlike". Corporations (for example) are intelligent "beings" (that some would consider to be people), but few humans would describe as being relatable.Even if there is magic consciousness going on inside the "mind" of a corporation, it doesn't mean what I think most people mean when imagining what AGI looks like.

I've actually been working on a piece similar this for a few months, but I kept questioning my knowledge and the overall premise (that "AI" companies are not viable business models), checking my data and re-writing so much that I've genuinely worried the "AI" market would collapse before it was ready to be published.
