@BarrenPlanet indeed, and I vividly remember waiting outside a very dubious Gents for my under-ten son because he didn't want to come into the Ladies with me any more. (My primary concern was getting questions about the graffiti he might see, to be clear.) As for people condemning gender neutral toilets, I can often derail them by saying 'like the one in your own home, you mean?'

Issues which concern me and the UK feminists I know. Domestic violence and murders. Stalking. Police failures to believe/prosecute sexual assault. Doctors who ignore women's pain /symptoms. Sexism in the media. DWP failures to secure child maintenance for single mothers. Lack of legal aid for divorce. Costs of childcare. The gender pay gap. The glass ceiling. Pension inequality and poverty for retired women. Lots more.Issues where we're fine. Trans rights, and respect for trans people.

When we successfully challenged the 2015 VATMOSS system seasoned campaigners said sending paper letters to relevant govt depts was the most useful thing supporters could do. Legally, letters must be opened, logged, filed. Sacks of mail make an impact.

I see writers are finding fake books attributed to them for sale on Amazon - again. If this happens to you and you're a member of The Society of Authors or your local equivalent, let them know at once. Writers' organisations can get through to key Amazon people direct and the more evidence they have of a problem, the more likely they'll get it resolved. #writers #WritingCommunity #WritingLife

I'm getting very tired of having to rephrase my search engine queries several times in an attempt to get the answer I actually want, rather than answers to whatever question some far from expert system mislabelled as 'A.I.' decides I'm asking. The first ten answers being adverts for allegedly related stuff can get in the bin as well.

The Atlantic magazine has created a searchable database from the dataset 'Books3' used to create generative A.I. systems. This dataset was created from 'books free online' - in other words, pirated works.Authors who write licensed work/tie-ins, please to check for your names. @LordWoolamaloo One of the things that recurrent and rapid staff turnover leads to is loss of institutional memory about PR disasters like this... and the impact on staff morale of treating someone so disgracefully. Stupid on so many levels - as well as being y'know, morally crappy behaviour.

Esquire Entertainment have posted their '75 Best Sci-Fi Books of All Time' list. I gritted my teeth and clicked through to check - and found a genuinely interesting list, not at all the far too commonly recycled 'stale, pale and male' selections. Your reminder that legislation to curb the rights of trans people to use restrooms or do anything else means everyone's behaviour, clothing etc will be opened up to intrusive and unwanted scrutiny and potential challenge in our daily lives. This is not a 'them' issue. Trans rights are human rights.

@Dewines @GrahamDowns In the UK, all a predatory man needs to get access to a Ladies loo is overalls, a bucket and mop. This whole panic is as artificial and cynical as the 'predatory lesbians in changing rooms' scare of the 1980s - which I remember clearly enough to see the hate rhetoric about trans people is often word for word the same. It's a divisive distraction being whipped up for political gain.

Every feminist I know supports their sisters, cis and trans, and their non-binary siblings, concerned with domestic violence, public safety, equal pay, employment protection, access to healthcare, and other discrimination issues. Obsessing over who uses which loo isn't feminism. It's bigotry.
