@su I watched it yet again and I think I figured out why I like it so much. When I was in middle school I had an adjoining paper route (Washington Post) with a friend. Sometimes we would push his family's International Cub Cadet out of the barn and away from the house before starting it and use it and we would deliver both routes before sunrise. It was great fun for a while, but his dad eventually figured it out and spoiled the whole gig.

@su I'm guessing one or more customers must have complained about the early morning noise, but I can't really remember. He and I hung out a lot together in the pre-dawn hours, mostly on our paper delivery bikes. He was always claiming to see shooting stars. I must have always been looking elsewhere because I never, or barely ever saw one.I spoke with his sister at a high school re-union and learned that that he was a PhD Meteorologist working at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Haunting to remember. Did I really live out that chapter of my life or was it a dream. I'm sure many of us have that same feeling about our relationship with Alex, remote as it was.

@Marko @Someguy I'm not sure. I also remember him saying or writing that he thought the song or the research mission of the ship and crew were exemplary of the "Aryan spirit".If that seems naive, it might be helpful to remember/imagine that his opinion was probably formed as a child in a Christian Science family who was only allowed to watch Jaques Cousteau and Wild Kingdom on TV. I've never seen a C.S. church service or Sunday school class but I've been told they are tedious beyond belief and I know that Alex was invariably subjected to them over an extended period of his life.

Christians are ubertrannies who transcended not only the boundaries of biological sex, but the entirety of mortal existence which makes them, by definition, non-humans.
