@neil The Italian and the linguist in me can't help but do it, I'm sorry: it's antipasto. There's no such word as "antipasta". Antipasto really just means appetizer, or pre-meal. It's not traditionally a salad, we call the salad antipasto because it's got the same cured meats and cheese on it. Charcuterie is as close a picture of traditional antipasto that most would recognize.

@KimPerales Herman Cain died. The introduction of a new Republican "contender" who happens to be a POC could've been predicted by anyone. That's all he is, a setup so when accusations of deeply ingrained racism get thrown at the GOP, they'll point to their one candidate who isn't a rich white guy.I guarantee you if Cain were alive today none of us would know this guy's name at all. Therein lies the why of it all. That he spouts Republican ideology is just a given, really.

@TaliaRinger You don't owe anyone an explanation. But you can just tell them that you value their time and expect them to value yours, therefore make schedules and stick to them, because that's what you're going to do. That's why scheduled appearances are so important in life, it expresses respect. If they don't know that lesson yet, it costs nothing to teach it to them. If they show up off schedule, you're busy respecting the time of others. Can't do it, sorry. Reschedule.

@IdahoLark Fun fact, the elderly woman who says "I'll have what she's having" is Rob Reiner's mother. He told a story about directing the scene and how he was showing Meg Ryan what he wanted, essentially mimicking her orgasm in the scene, and he looked up and remembered his mother was on set and she was staring right at him.

@Linux_in_a_Bit I think "medical things" is a bit too blanketed of a statement to be good. Famously, one "very accurate" model was found to be largely basing its decisions on just the presence of a ruler in the xray image it was looking at. Because human doctors put rulers _next to_ cancerous legions. Literally nothing good about that.There's also a need to account for biases. The data is trained on represents biased treatment, because it's human made data. That's really problematic too.

@stux Not well known outside America, but the vast majority are less than a century old, put up a generation and a half, or even later, after the union won the civil war. They weren't put up by the Confederacy. They were put up by locals generations later during the civil rights eras, primarily a forward-thinking group called the Daughters of the Confederacy. The idea was to keep the idea alive for future generations, propaganda for the future, exactly as it happened.
