@lowqualityfacts I get the feeling it has way more to do with the real estate involved and micromanaging than any other conceivable thing.Also, this whole "the beatings will continue until morale improves" or the glee with which some people celebrate cultures of overwork...But in that case you know damn well the suffering is the point. "I worked 36 hours straight with no sleep"....um, great, so you basically worked 8-10 productive hours and a whole bunch of error-filled, addlepated hours...which depending on your position might have lethal consequences for other people....good...job? 🤦

@jensorensen Ugh, yes. I remember protesting this and that being a very unpopular thing to do. That, and being a TA for a critical thinking class leading discussions about profiling and Islamophobia (only to come home with massive headaches from listening to people rationalize some really awful things). I can remember in the late 90s going to an Amnesty Intl meeting on campus and one of the PoliSci professors saying that Iraq was just a convenient place to bomb to distract the country. @LoganFive My son in the third or fourth grade getting told he was wrong when asked to name one of the states of matter and responding with "plasma" 🫠 😂 the next younger siblings were the ones who got in trouble over history and math, respectively. The youngest watched everyone else and has opted out of saying anything....he is the one with the bag of popcorn forever enjoying the show at a safe distance 😂

@Radical_EgoCom Systems of mutual aid, cooperation, solidarity, peaceful refusal to work/comply, etc are the way forward, for sure. A physical fight would, if anything, give them exactly what they want. It's just that one side of the clown show is more actively hostile to organized human life.It's like choosing between active and passive suicide. On a loosely related note, I watched an Answers with Joe on Nebula this morning. It was about "accelerationism". It's an interesting watch.

@Cyrill @jeffowski I would like to point out that people who study medicine and go into it for the "fat paycheck" are reprehensible human beings who have missed the point entirely. Just my two cents as a cancer patient. The "low level staff" as well as the doctors I found after canning the "paycheck" ones are worth their weight in gold, but aren't in it for the gold and it shows.If you do anything for the love of money, anything at all, but especially medicine, you've missed the whole point of what people are for.Plenty of people learn and do for the love of learning and doing. That includes many talented low wage workers who are excellent caregivers, artists, etc. No offense, but I really think you need to expand your understanding of what it is to be human. Assuming this isn't just a troll, which I suspect it is.
