They realize that people do this all the time, right? Like, people pick a university across the country because it's the best for their sport, or they/their parents spend tens and hundreds of thousands on the best coaches and gear and travel, or they simply spend their entire lives training. An athlete structuring their entire life around their sport is the NORM.

I've been listening to audio drama podcasts recently, and every single one has had a "they" character. So many moments of "Wait, is 'them' the individual or the group?" Bah. I don't want to have to doublethink my lighthearted distraction from work. Added point of wtfery, one of the authors couldn't keep the age of the main character straight, but nailed every use of "they". Really shows the priorities. Anyway, taking recommendations for sci-fi or urban fantasy podcasts featuring women. Other fantasy may be okay, too, but I'm really preferring a more modern vibe right now.
