@lxo Because it is. It is not "leveling" anything. It's biasing the seesaw in the opposite direction. Leveling would be if no one was allowed to be bigoted, including minorities and women. The whole "power + privilege" bs just feels like collective punishment.

@silverpill How have they de-institutionalised art practise? Already by the time you could buy and sell things on the internet you could buy, sell, and commission art, and before then it was possible to flog your paintings on a street corner. No need for NFTs.

Well then it's more stupid than I thought (I would never buy one, I just thought that if artists were struggling then maybe they would be a good way for them to make money).That doesn't make sense to me though. Surely if the artist themself mints them, well, then there's no one more trustworthy, is there.

@silverpill That’s not a de-institutionalization of art practise as a whole. That’s a de-institutionalisation of art ‘sale’ on the internet. You could still practice art, and you could still sell it physically, but you could not sell it digitally due to the nature of information, which NFTs don’t solve anyway. They don’t enable you to sell the art, they just enable you to sell the NFT, which has only a loose connection to the art as the latter can easily be set free from the former by the simple act of right-clicking.

@silverpill But you are selling the certificate, not the art. The art is open to anyone. The certificate doesn't grant any exclusive rights other than bragging rights.
