A couple of thoughts:The big Ukrainian personal resources can be used in a variety of ways: innovation on drones and other weapons, with time being put to use working on future weapons factories, etc. And if Russia wants to keep the war a question of attrition, it will not give them the upper hand. With time it could mean that the better technology will aid the Ukrainian advances in Zaporizhia. 2/3

3/3If the US Congress approves the wanted 24 bn support package, more Ukrainian soldiers can be trained, possibly for another attacking push in the spring of 2024- with the aid of better air combat capability (F-16s and so on).The flow of Western tanks might also prepare Ukraine for the future after a successful operation of cutting the land bridge to Crimea #UkraineWar

Every wednesday, Danish tv airs my favourite tv programe "Krigens Døgn" ("Day of the War") about the #UkraineWar A couple of interesting talking points from todays programe, which had the always knowleageble @anderspuck among the guests:1) The Russian attempt of a blitzkrieg on Avdiivka was made for political reasons2) If Ukraine is able to break through the Russian forces in Adviivka, they would not have to deal with defensive fortifications, as the Surovikin Line stops there 1/2

2/2 A few thoughts:Re 1) @anderspuck is right on the money here. For more than 16 months, Russia has only captured Bakhmut - basically nothing else. Despite wartime censorship in Russia, it might get more difficcuelt to justify the war effort in the population.2) Obviously they could. But I think Ukraine might prefer to make Avdiivka to a new Vuhledar/Bakhmut, to increas Russian attition at this moment, as it could prove more vital later in the #UkraineWar

@anderspuck By the way, yesterday, numbers showed that the Romanian harbour of Constanta received 10,5 million tonnes of grain from Ukraine in the first 9 months of this year. That number was actually what analysts predicted re. the total Ukrainian grain export for the whole of 2023.https://www.reuters.com/article/ukraine-crisis-grains-romania-idUSL1N3BN15G

So, I have just returned home from #holliday - it was a great experience to visit #Riga - the capital of #Latvia If you take a trip there, you should definately visit The Riga War Museum, which tells the story of the bloody and violent past of the Baltic nation, who has been occupied several times. More on tha tlater in this thread. Both by the German empire in mideval times, but also by the Russian empire in the 18th century, by Poland-Lithuania and more recently of course by Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union. When you go for a walk in the city, you can sort of feel the history of the city, especially at the Independence Square and the Independence monument.1/3

2/3One of the first things, you see, when you enter the war museum is this wagon, called #Orlik. It was donated by Latvia and then deployed to #Ukraine in 2022 and did stellar duty in the eastern front, including Izium, and then returned to Latvia, and now on display at the museum.#StandWithUkraine https://bnn-news.com/latvian-residents-able-to-have-a-look-at-vehicles-donated-to-twitter-convoy-for-ukrainian-troops-239699

On the same floor, a russian Orlan-10 reconnaissance drone, which was captured by AFU, is on display, along with pictures, commemorating the Lativan soldiers who went to Ukraine and paid the ultimate price of protecting civilian Ukrainians from russian terrorist attacks. 3/3 #RussiaIsATerroristState #UkraineWar
