@Shiroyasha @Stellar Honestly yeah, running the cable even through the wall of a rented place is often cheaper than buying a decent WiFi router. Landlords, notable pricks, still generally are OK with you paying a bit of money to improve the unit.

@boilingsteamI hope they try to go with embeds for a while, if only so instances have some form of self defense against these fuckers trying to direct harassment against trans people or otherwise treat random people as case studies without their consent. It won't last, they'll adjust, but them having to learn why people fucking hate them for this and are sabotaging their embeds might convince some to update their ethics policies and at least ask first.@lanodan @jwb

@boilingsteam lol so what the fuck is even the point of using them? if they're gonna snitch your ass out for torrenting then they're useless.mullvad's not in the US and gets audited to not keep logs so I prefer them, dunno what other services people might suggest to those who suddenly have a very good reason to switch.

@Raspberry_Pi @TobyRobertsPi"Police sexual misconduct is often considered a hidden crime that routinely goesunreported. The current study provides an empirical data on cases of sex-related police crime at law enforcement agencies across the United States. The study identifies and describes incidentswhere sworn law enforcement officers were arrested for one or more sex-related crimes through a quantitative content analysis of published newspaper articles and court records. The primary news information source was the Google News search engine using 48 automated Google Alerts. Data are analyzed on 548 arrest cases in the years 2005-2007 of 398 officers employed by 328 nonfederal law enforcement agencies located in 265 counties and independent cities in 43 statesand the District of Columbia. Findings indicate that police sexual misconduct includes serious forms of sex-related crime and that victims of sex-related police crime are typically younger than 18 years of age."

@briankrebs @Cleopatra @happyborg @malwaretech The extortion is releasing source code, extorting large corporations. No customer code or data, as per Microsoft. It's like the definintion of an acceptable target. If anything, I don't think software companies should be *allowed* to have closed source software, so I'm particularly unsympathetic when their shit security results in their software becoming involuntary FOSS lol.The idea that we should be jailing or fining children to protect the sanctity of intellectual property on behalf of megacorps that we know are hurting the planet is just absurd. Sure, legally they've got the courts on their side, but like the law's not legitimate to begin with.
