That's some of our winter fuel arriving. Now there's just the task of shifting it from our kind neighbours garage where it will reside while it rains to our wood store up the hill. 2 tonnes of it. We may be some time. #OffGridLiving #WinterFuel

@fitheach Although we're off grid electrically speaking, I am grateful that we have mains water. Especially as climate change makes summers dryer.

@fitheach Oh I can only imagine how good it tastes. Ours comes from the loch at the top of a hill behind our house, but it goes through a treatment plant before it reaches us. But we were in Edinburgh last weekend and the water tasted so awful compared to the relatively pure water we have here.

Forgive me a little rant, but would you go into, say, John Lewis, and in the wool department ask the staff if they could divide up a ball of wool so you can just buy just a 1/4 of a ball because that is all you need. @gretared If you're in Inverness try to also get to the NW coast - it is stunningly beautiful. Places like Sandwood Bay, Smoo Cave, and if you make it to Smoo Cave and love chocolate, then Cocoa Mountain. It is a bit of an expedition from Inverness but you'll see a totally different landscape and environment. Of course Loch Ness - you're right there. But there is so much more than Loch Ness which can be a tourist trap.

Scottish Hive Mind on Mastodon ..... my google search is coming up empty. Is there a company that offers what is effectively transport from Fort William to Inverness by boat up the canal? I don't mean hiring a boat yourself, or a boat tour as such, but just a means of transporting people from FW to Inverness other than by road. Any suggestions welcome.
