@news Congratulations on including two logical fallacies in your reply. 1. The issue addressed was if anyone knows why fatal police shootings are going up which your reply doesnt address. Evading the issue, (red herring) first fallacy. 2. Erroneously attempting to take a reasonable argument to outrageous levels that was never intended. Appeal to extremes, second fallacy.

@Benevans @Computeforloot @atomic @augieray This is an important issue the US isn’t willing to address. Suicide rates are highest in wealthy countries and US is the highest. Fatal police shootings are higher in the US. US is an outlier in firearm deaths. Women and children experience the most violence and they aren’t the gun holders. When looking at the larger systemic issues, gun reform is really more of diversion than a solution.

@carlos @augieray @Benevans @Computeforloot @atomic Exactly, and it isn't gun laws which are driving nationalism and fascism the US or Europe. There are other issues at play, in large part economic insecurity and inequality and the US which is arguably a large part a contributor to this problem is busy bickering over issues it won't resolve and hasn't resolved for 50 years as things get worse.

@grammargirl Schools and grammar apps push writing that is more convincing, rather than accuracy in content. The most successful artists/musicians I know are the most outgoing and confident, while the most talented are introverted and self-deprecating. In interviews men tend to exaggerate their skills while women often don’t even apply if their experience doesn’t exactly match preferred experience. This is observable everywhere.

@breitensteinart @JacquelynGill @anlomedad @davidho Im sorry, but I f you’ve been an activist all your life and the situation is worse than when you started, you aren’t an expert, you are a failure. It’s time to reevaluate your methods, not discourage people from trying new ones and telling younger activists their methods won’t work.

@JacquelynGill @anlomedad @davidho I agree, targeting corporations does work, and it has worked in the past. Strikes and walkouts work great, but that doesn’t work in the case of climate change, blm or abortion. Unfortunately monopolies, especially global ones and ones supported by several government can’t be targeted in the same way as a local and contained businesses.

@JacquelynGill @anlomedad @davidho yes we can look to previous movements, and most of the big ones which overturned monarchies, obtained freedom from oppressive dictatorships, sought freedom from colonialialism all included protests, conflicted with police and/or military, and even heaven forbid, blocked roads. Of course there were conservative objections, demonization of protests and activism, because they don’t want to give up profit or power.

@JacquelynGill @anlomedad @davidho I find the ambulance argument to be insincere. There’s little concern over traffic jams blocking emergency vehicles, people dying b/c they can’t afford healthcare or private ambulance costs, but protesters in the streets are criticized for interrupting minor normal flow or the potential of inconvenience. There’s plenty of research on tribalism and political atrophy as well. Many theories can all be true at once.

@TonyStark What’s the plan to get 80% of people to vote?

@TonyStark I’ve spent a couple of hours trying to figure out how to deal with the ID issue, but I can’t come up with a workable solution. Problem below. I’ve had this issue in my own family, and frankly if I had to start from scratch, I’m not sure I could come up with the required documentation. First comes first- get people IDs, but how? We’re not a democracy if we can’t vote because of roadblocks.https://www.aclu.org/fact-sheet/oppose-voter-id-legislation-fact-sheet

@DarthPutinKGB There is no punishment severe enough, you know, because of human rights. If there are devils and demons, I hope they do their stuff.

@DaveRussell @lucywildboots @1finekitty Truth. But they also recall when unions were commonplace, college was cheap, credit scores didn’t exist, no one cared about employment gaps, college students backpacked through Europe rather than doing internships, careers were decided in college or after and not middle school, toasters worked for 40 years and families shared one vehicle. Not all old ways of doing things should be forgotten.

@breadandcircuses It's the never-ending lie of the capitalists that consumers are the problem and the solution.

@DaveRussell @lucywildboots @1finekitty mind you, I’m not saying one demographic is better than another, but I wish we paid more attention to policies and issues rather than charisma and tribalism.

@goatrodeo @DaveRussell @lucywildboots @1finekitty I hope you’re being sarcastic. I’ve bought 3 toasters, 2 dishwashers, probably over 20 earbuds, a drawer full of random electronics all conked out. Cheap Chinese metal tools and screws bent or broken. Ragged clothes fall apart after three washings. Lights flashing in the car after a year for things that can’t be fixed or need to be taken to a dealership who gauges prices. Don’t even!

@news In the US laws are created for men to carry guns to stand their ground while women go to prison for defending themselves and their children from violence and murder. MSM treats it as bad apple events when our laws and institutions promote and perpetuate the injustice.
