@snikket_im if your looking for a simple to setup complete messaging product , then I cannot recommend Snikket enough .*Simple setup for video calls and instant messaging *Brilliant docs *Great advice/support from the team on the chat group If your thinking of self hosting an XMPP server this should be your first stop .:xmpp: :snikket:

@mike I notice you use ZorinOS, how do you finds it ? do you use the pro edition ? I think more for my wife who currently is using PopOS . I think the Zorin connect app would help her a lot

@mike nice ! Thanks for the info, I'm just trying the core live USB on for size, looks stunning. Just out of interest have you ever tried a rolling release distro or do mainly use Debian/Ubuntu based ?

@neil it's literally my only regret with the rockpro64, there isn't as large a support market for things like UPS or other add ons

@neil none really I can't see a reason why it wouldn't work with an APC UPS, I just can't justify the cost of a full blown UPS solution to protect my little server. Raspberry pi has a small UPS hat that runs off rechargable AA batteries and a script can power down the PI properly when it switches to the UPS supply. This is the kind of solution I would love for the Rockpro64.

@penguin42 @neil thank you for pointing this out , I completely overlooked somehow generic 12v 5A UPS suitable for routers and SBC's it's funny how a slight nudge in the right direction and I've managed to find alot of products that should be suitable . Really appreciate the tip.

Should I federate my Matrix synapse server ?Currently I use it as a personal family chat/video call server.I also have another account on matrix.org which I use to interact with other matrix rooms.My worry is trying to "blacklist" federating with undesirable servers.What's the general advice do you run a federating matrix synapse ?#matrix :matrix:

@penguin42 I don't think its fully supported in nixos , I think you can get it running but with limited use , so still a possibility if there is nothing similar.
