Requiring emails just creates problems for your users, and even causes the stupid users to self-dox occasionally.No-email works for Ramble, It works for Poal, it works for nearly every site on Tor, it works for the other fediverse instances on other software that allows disabling email. It even worked for Plebbit (reddit) for the majority of the site's existence, before the lefties turned it into their propaganda hub and started requiring emails just to make it harder for banned "wrongthinkers" to come back.

Every site should be its own "island" and not depend on any outside services such as email.The "password reset" could have been handled by simply logging out all users, and then requiring all users to change their password on the site upon logging in, without the use of email.For announcements during downtime, a static announcement page under 10KB with no script, no images, and (obviously) no SQL database is nearly impossible to DDoS. When the main site is down, the announcement/parking page is up. If the domain goes down, it's still available via Tor.
