@futurebird I refer to the chromebooks as hardcover browsers. We require kids who want to do physics or computer science to buy laptops instead.

@futurebird I love teaching without a fixed end point. I got to teach yr 9 maths a while back and we got to do so many fun riddles that really led to some interesting mathematics.

@futurebird @evacide Yes. I remember sitting in a circle of friends 20 years ago (about 8 young adults) and someone asked if we knew anyone who had been raped or sexually assaulted. No one admitted to it, even though I know now that at least 4 of us in that circle personally had been. It is a stigma that can stick and is very difficult to face up to.

@augieray My (autistic) son told kids who were heckling him that he had contagious autism. That totally shut them down. This is the same kid who asked a nurse giving him a vaccination if this was his upgrade to Autism 2.0 🤦♀️.

@futurebird We always start with their wishlist - go online and find something you want to buy that you can’t afford. Then the calculations on how much and how long you have to save for are at least vaguely relevant. Of course, there’s still a lot of direct instruction 🤷♀️
