KARIN is practically down the #memoryhole ...even the manga is crazy out of print, much less the #anime adaptation. It's a cute little RomCom featuring the titular character as a "reverse" vampire...she has to use her fangs to INJECT/release EXCESS blood for um, reasons....I dunno. It was a little dumb but always adorable.

@GenXotaku1971@sakurajima.moe Sailor Moon was what inspired her to actually learn Japanese, as the daughter of a Japanese mother. Her Japanese grandmother also supported her doing so...and she inspired her siblings to do the same.

Bought more "Freedom to Read" style bookmarks from ALA Graphics. I'm going to include them on all outgoing ILL books I lend out to other libraries until they run out. It's mostly preaching to the choir, e.g. the recipients are already library users, but just to reinforce the concept. Small act of #propaganda for the side of good/freedom.

Finally finished Sn.1 of Reincarnated as A Sword. Pretty fun if a bit generic fantasy series...technically an isekai insofar as a Japanese man gets reincarnated in a fantasy world...as intelligent sword! ⚔️ and is taken up by a Black Cat(girl) slave who uses him to obtain her freedom and decides to become an adventurer. It has decent action and is also a very wholesome #anime insofar as the bond between the sword and Fran who (our Black Cat girl) names "Teacher" (Sensei in Japanese, I guess, I watched it dubbed)

Enjoyed binging more Girls Band Cry on #Crunchyroll by Toei and while the 3D CGI takes getting used to, the story's so good I don't mind it, and I don't mind that it's a 🇯🇵 sub only show...and it might not work as a dub with all the music involved. It's always a little weird when the characters speak in English but sing in Japanese...I get the conceit and the limitations....The story is good enough to dub but the songs would probably be harder to adapt and they'd probably just leave the music in Japanese.

I've learned just enough Japanese to pick out some high frequency words & phrases. I don't follow the main dialogue but some of the short lines i do pick up on. And note other things like how because Momoka the guitarist is the oldest at 20, the other girls never fail to address her as Momoka-san. Girls Band Cry is so full of drama and emotion that it reels me in.

@futurebird @david_preston I wonder if they would scan one of those passport cards only valid at land crossings in 🇨🇦 and 🇲🇽 ....I got one by mistake but I carry it with me when traveling so I can keep my book passport secure at my hotel.
