@SunMcNukes @bplein @Strandjunker If you can opt out of the State, then you can poison my air and water, beat me up, and stab my cat - and I can't stop you unless I can get a bigger set of outlaws than you have. Barbarism.I will stay with, and try to improve, a "coercive" system, where the weak are protected from the strong, and the poor can get health care, education, good roads, safe food, etc. - sometimes enough of the weak get past voting restrictions and swing the government.

@SunMcNukes @bplein @Strandjunker Wow, that last post was full of BS. Alt-reality, or exaggeration from a few states run by bumhead right-wingers.

A US "Democratic" Presidential hopeful makes a gish-gallop of BS, then a former Republican takes it apart, piece by piece - and adds a coda which reframes the whole. #USPol #GishGallop #Analysis #Propagandahttps://youtu.be/mVC4jEK8ODY

@rms I wonder whather the Canadians have checked what happened when Australia tried a similar approach. FB acted while legislation was being debated in Parliament. Early 2021, & FB blocked government departments, community groups, and emergency services as well: their work was sloppy. As I recall, FB agreed to legislation exempting orgs from fees for the use of news sites if they made signficant contributions to local news gathering orgs (paid into a pool to be shared between news groups.)
