Honestly I should probably relate my fedi experience hereMostly, I've just gotten cancelled over misunderstandings, wound up with my heart broken a bunch of times by people from here, got my wife taken from me for two months by someone from here, got abused by a narcissist from here...I've met so many wonderful folks (including one of my wives and a partner) but it's really tiring.This place has some truly toxic people. It's a reflection of the queer community at large in a way.

Am I bad for wanting my abusers to get better... I don't want harm to come to them, I want them to realise the harm they've done and correct their behaviour, and I don't want others to be hurt by them.I'm not interested in penalties anymore. It's more important to stop making victims and rehabilitate abusers who were likely abused themselves.

Like, one of my abusers recently died and it's made me reflect on this a lot. Their death from cancer was so hollow, so meaningless, it fixed nothing, it didn't give me closure, it just made me feel like... what a fucking waste. Imagine if they'd actually reached out, apologised, and worked to ensure they erased those traits from themselves.

@potzerus How can you block octodon.social for hosting a piece of shit like esvrld and an admin like CobaltVelvet when lots of legitimate people use the instance, for example? There is no way to deal with the toxicity without causing tons of harm. And yes you might be able to block the individual but that doesn't stop the brigading from the toxic people.
