@wolf480pl BananaPi Routerboard *might* also be interesting, if it was available at all?I'm using a supermicro board with an Atom for router + NAS, but that isn't exactly cheap or extremely low-power (OTOH, has been working great for ~8 years now), and a Fritz!Repeater 3000 in "Bridge Mode" as AP (after being fed up with the crappyness of multiple cheaper consumer-grade APs before).I don't mind configuring with web interface, I don't reconfigure often anyway..

@wolf480pl It's a pity that 16:10 basically doesn't exist above 1920x1200. I've used displays of that resolution for years (it's so much better than 1080p), but now I switched to 2560x1440 for my main display.(About one 2560x1600 display exists, it's from Dell, but kinda expensive and not that great for gaming)

@wolf480pl Maybe they fear getting confused about the logged-out state, after logging out in one tab?

@wolf480pl Yeah.. and it does (for my bank using multiple tabs kinda works), but maybe at some point with some kind of implementation it didn't or something..If someone knows the real reason I'm curious as well :)

@wolf480pl I meant when they discontinued free dyndns, org (didn't even know they continued to exist afterwards, but apparently they belong to Oracle now)

@wolf480pl I probably mainly heard about the free-dyndns-discontinuation because I was using it

@wolf480pl @nick @umfrage True. I don't care about having an account at Github (had one since way before they were bought), but "real" Microsoft accounts are a PITA I'd like to avoid, even though I have (at least?) one

@ParadeGrotesque @_xhr_ You forgot sourceforge :)Then of course again, projects on GH, SF and google code are still accessible (unless the developer deleted them), while most self-hosted projects (that the developers lost interest in) just vanish (if you're lucky someone uploads them at github :-p).

@wolf480pl AFAIK proprietary drivers have much more invasive optimizations than the open source ones (which I think mostly have quirks/workarounds for bugs in the games - or generic optimizations). Like replacing specific shaders of specific games with ones (manually) optimized for their GPUs, and probably adding or ignoring API (OpenGL, DirectX, ...) calls and stuff like that - which can also break things.

@wolf480pl Assuming that the author had a reason is always a good idea, because sometimes they do (though they should document it in the code, IMO) - but of course sometimes (often?) people just do stupid shit for no good reason

@wolf480plI don't think so.1. It's way more work (and complexity) to anticipate and implement all possibly needed features first. Your protocol would be totally bloated and probably still miss features.2. There will be no unneeded parts, every feature will have *some* user, so you'll have to decide whether to maintain all that crap for eternity or to piss off the users of less popular features by removing them.(And chances are that *lots of* users use at least one obscure feature)

@wolf480pl Yes, that's a terrible idea. What better chance to get uncensored information to them then when they're not at home?

@wolf480pl not sure speculating about this is helpful in any way - AFAIK no one knows anything yet, so it could've been basically anyone or anything.IMO it's not a good idea to start speculating (and thus implicitly blaming)

@wolf480pl IIRC the German government wasn't really expecting to get russian gas this winter, and AFAIK they didn't really get any for weeks at least, due to different bullshit reasons from Putin. But even if it's true, on the downside lots of climate-damaging gas has been released into the atmosphere, and gas prices (and thus everything tied to it, like heating and almost all industries) were bad enough even before this.

@wolf480pl There *is* pressure from some right-wing groups to lift sanctions "so we don't have to freeze in the winter", but now they could direct their hate against whoever they think is responsible for this, so even on that axis things might get worse

@wolf480pl Yeah they did fall a bit even here, but just earlier today I saw an article that the prices for heating with oil and gas have doubled since 2020, and will most likely continue to rise (and those calculations were from before the pipelines "broke")
