@orekix when Gordon Brown lost the election to David Cameron in 2010, he left a note on the desk saying "welcome to downing street, there's no money left, good luck!"Records showed that the government had been on quite the spending spree in the space between losing the election and handing power over.Spending on, seemingly, nothing.

@wolf480pl @solidsanek I have, yes. The last time was when I realised that I had forced Bricky to explain his cheating on Sim by saying he was a "vulnerable little boy and got groomed", lol. The fact that he had spent the last 2 years trying to convince her he was ~manly~ (even though he's a scrawny vegan manlet) and I made him adopt a position of vulnerable ingratiation was delicious. But that was revenge. He hurt my closest one.I am many things, but dysfunctional is not one of them. When I see a weak thing, I want to help it grow and thrive. I never pulled the wings off insects as a child. I nursed injured bees back to health with sugar water when they flew into the windows. If anything, P's response to this post proves that politics has no place for belief in evil. And thus, evil thrives.

@orekix @p Compare and contrast your position within your family. Become sick, useless, depressed, injured, lost, angry or wrecked, and they will nurture you back to health. What socialists (including capitalists, who are socialist by their very nature) like to forget is that there was a time where famiy was indistinguishable from working group.

@p @orekix This is, regardless, irrelevant to the original point.Which was: Evil exists, and has existed since long before modern political factionalism. To dismiss the existence of evil as "commie propaganda" is a position of unbelievable myopia.

@p @orekix Does your knowledge of history begin at the Neolithic era?

@wolf480pl @solidsanek I have given this much thought, and I respect you for phrasing it this way and for clearly having thought about it, but I do disagree with your conclusions. To me, what is within all of us is *darkness*, which is different from evil. It's hard to explain. It's instinctive and unconscious.A good illustration might be this.Your mother is raped. You find her rapist. He is at your mercy. You could end his life swiftly, yet you do not. You prolong his suffering. This is darkness.vsYou find a gravely injured rabbit. You have never seen it before. It will not survive its injuries. You could put it out of its misery, kill it for food, or allow the saga to play out without your interference. Instead, you kneel down and torture it with your knife for several hours. This is evil.

@ArdanianRight @p You are responding to a position that nobody asserted.I agree with you. There are, however, a handful of evil ones, becuase usually, evil men seek power of one form or another, and get it.

@p @orekix I have no idea what that is. My point was simply that the development of agriculture marked the transition from the Paleolithic to the Neolithic era, and the point at which humans started to build larger settlements for agricultural efficiency and tot ake advantage of the increased food yield that a static patch of ground could now yield. (as opposed to hunting and gathering, which could only support very limited numbers in a stable settlement, or slightly larger numbers in nomadic groups.)The division of labour along organisational lines rather than intuitive lines effectively began with this development. The overspecialisation of labour led to the situation you namedropped - subsistence farming - in which a family of people know only one skill (agriculture) and, in the absence of wider societal structure, can use it only to subsistence farm.In contrast to this, Paleolithic man, by his very nature, had to have a wider skillset in order to survive. One may have been "the best at this thing" in a tribe but would by no means have had "this thing" as their only skill. This adaptability enabled a fuller range of life and a more immediate relationship with natural surroundings; namely, less time was spent sewing, and more was spent reaping. My point is that subsistence farming, justifiably considered an undesireable existence, is a considerably worse way of living than the paleolithic lifestyle. If you want contemporary examples, compare uninterrupted (as in, not forced into modern societal structure by aggressive social reform) indigenous peoples, such as those in parts of the Amazon basin or the Australian outback, with the existence of being a subsistence farmer in a "country" that has had its nomadic routes interrupted and disturbed by the drawing of national borders, such as Afghanistan or Iraq.

@GoldPeaPuffer @p Generalisations about groups of people based on occupation. They make no sense whatsoever.Observe abbatoir staff. Most merely get on with their uncerremonious job of slaughtering animals for meat on a production line. But every now and then, we get fucked up leaked videos of abbatoir workers torturing animals for fun before they kill them.Or what about the famous Taliban prisoners scandal? With that female American soldier posing with their stripped, electrocuted, tortured bodies, bags over their heads?Or what about the police who seek out opportunities for brutality with active sadism, as opposed to the workaday "just doing their job" cops who follow orders and play by the book?Evil is not a problem that can be approached with rationalism.
