This experience is horrendous.The Equality Act is marred by the conflict between Sex and "Gender", with no clear outline of which spaces can segregate by Sex within the bounds of the law. There is no way to reconcile these differences - if a space can segregate by Sex, then intrinsically it will "unlawfully" discriminate by what is nowadays called Gender (which in most people's minds is a synonym for Sex) due to excluding transgender people who are not that Sex.A woman is an adult, human female. A "transgender woman" is, and always will be, a man. No matter if they get their birth certificate updated, this does not change the basic fact. A patient in a hospital ward is a vulnerable person due to the health situation they find themselves in. I don't want to cede ground to allowing transgender women into ANY female space, but something like a hospital environment is surely an obvious area where there is absolutely no flexibility on the matter even if society bends to this flexibility elsewhere.A man crossdressing as a woman is mentally ill on some varying level. They should not be placed in sex segregated environments. They DEFINITELY should not be placed in a position of power (nurse > patient) where the actual women are incredibly vulnerable by the fact of them having to be in that environment in the first place.And then with regards to the actual case in point - for a person's important health procedure to be denied due to the hurt feelings of a member of staff? Bullshit. Whatever happend to "First, do no harm." The hospital is causing physical endangerment all for hurt fee fees. @dave @crunklord420 He's made no attempt to show he was insane at the time of the act. His defence has been a combination of asking witnesses if they could see if he was the only person in the car and so somebody else could've been driving, then there was stuff about casting doubt on whether it was unintentional as he was honking the horn ( somehow this means the brakes weren't working?) And finally the sovcit shit. From today he seems to be leaning on trying to say he hasn't been treated fairly in court, probably hoping to find some grounds for appeal. The judge has the patience of a Saint, and I imagine she is trying to ensure that she leaves no scope for an appeal based on the trial process. It's gonna get juicy during the final statements as he said he would say whatever he wants and would also be able to inform the jury about jury nullification. That was the one point I've seen where the judge was right on the edge of losing it.

@RustyCrab @InceptionState @mushroom_soup I think she had to tolerate him in order to limit any opportunity for him to take up even more court time with an appeal. Yeah it would've been great to rip him a new asshole for dicking around, but ultimately she was shitting all over him by showing how out of his depth he was. Unfortunately I don't think he'll ever realise that, and will be a prison lawyer for his fellow inmates. At the end of the DA's closing argument she looked really on the emotional edge when they played a video of the victims. And then after the jury went to deliberate, Brooks was trying to be all joking with her about the jurisdiction question etc.

She got better by the end of the trial when she realised she could just not answer his questions, and then call the jury in and he would shut up. He'd be talking shit right up until they were coming through the door π
