Code should be self-documenting and never need comments. If you have to explain your code with a comment, you should probably rewrite it - if others reading it can't understand it, it's bad code and could almost certainly be written in a much more straightforward way. This could, obviously, have been rewritten without the need for comments. Just needs a better coder. @socjuswiz

For the record, I wouldn't have done anything with the code. I'm QA, I'd just fail it and move onto the next ticket ๐ @socjuswiz

I'm in no way trying to defend them here, but they are protected legally if they haven't moderated it themselves, and it hasn't been reported by anyone. Sadly, their illusion of ignorance of the content of their own site is a common issue with sites that post porn or enable sex work - if the company says 'we didn't know about it until someone told us about it', they're legally covered. And lawyers will advise them to adopt this stance time and time again. It's madness. @Brookryn

Zoom is terrifyingly insecure. My company has put in restrictions to stop people from using it in any capacity. I don't know much about its security holes, but my understanding is that it's basically got open doors that anyone can enter if they can harvest the room code. @HebrideanHecate

@kathleenbee @HebrideanHecateYes, they all have their flaws, its true. There's a brief mention of the "zoombombing" on here, as well as mention of meetings being recorded without permission by invading users.Interestingly, various institutions had already banned its use before the pandemic, so suspicions and found flaws have been around for a while.https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-04-07/taiwan-bans-government-use-of-zoom-over-cybersecurity-concerns

Twitter is just bad. Like Facebook, like Instagram, et al. All social media is an attention trap, that draws people in and relies entirely on the little pop of endorphins created by getting a like, or getting into an argument, or looking at an 'aspirational' picture. All of it is designed to keep you looking at screens and ignoring reality. And yes, I'm very aware of the irony of this response! :D @socjuswiz

I'm having to perform logical backflips in my head to work out why a woman would ever passive-aggressively complain to her partner about not letting him use her as a sexual vessel. I can't fathom it. @Fullycaffeinated @Ladyfat

Surely a third and fourth space? Would transmen and transwomen be comfortable sharing a space that's just for them? I'd be intrigued to know their objections if that's not comfortable for them, and how much they'd align with the objections of men and women having to share with the trans community. Lacking the support of the TRAs would hardly be a surprise in that case, though I'm sure it would be more due to not being able to invade the privacy of women, and in the case of transmen - not feeling comfortable around actual men. Which seems a bit odd now that I think about it. Women who have become men, not feeling comfortable around men... almost exactly what actual women object to. My brain just started playing the Magic Roundabout theme.@Ladyfat

I've worked in places with gender-neutral toilets and there's always a feeling of unease walking into them. I felt uncomfortable when walking into the sink area when women were in there, I can only assume they felt the same or worse. While I don't object to them as a concept, my experienced reality of them has been unpleasant and uncomfortable. But again, these TIMs asking for their own spaces, or shared spaces, are thinking only of themselves and their needs, others aren't even secondary to them, they're barely even a consideration. @Fullycaffeinated @Ladyfat

Incredibly important point there. Who's toilet is repurposed for the trans people? Obviously the women's toilets. It wouldn't be the mens because, well men, but any working space or public toilet even considering removing the disabled toilets would be subject to massive backlash. So... sorry ladies, no toilets of your own. And let's face it, there's pretty much no building in the country that can accommodate yet another set of toilets being installed. @Ladyfat @Fullycaffeinated

Unfortunately, and I'm basing this on the interactions I have with my own male friends, and the many men I encounter online, men are actually pathetic, insecure wimps who will only stand up for the things that make them look good to their contemporaries and peers. Not for things they actually believe in. Standing up for things you believe in is effort and takes time and there's football on so I better have another tinny... etc. @Ladyfat @Fullycaffeinated

Like I say, they're standing up for causes that make them look good to contemporaries and peers. I'm willing to bet cold hard cash that the majority of posturing young lefty males showing support for the trans movement have no trans friends, but have plenty of online followers that will revere them for shouting into their echo chamber about tolerance and inclusivity, while they know not one single person actually affected by the issue. Taking a broader stroke on this, I have many white, left-leaning, middle class men on my timeline lecturing other white, middle class men, on the struggle black people are going through. And I know for a fact that 90% of them have no black friends. But they're all cheering each other on and exclaiming how virtuous and worthy each other are. As a little test, I posted on my own timeline "wake me up when you've worked out which of you is the most woke and worthy", and the TRA and BLM supporters were first to give me a like. Not spotting the irony in their support at all. @Ladyfat @Fullycaffeinated

If anyone catches me trying to open Facebook or Twitter today, please slap the back of my hand like I'm going in for another biscuit. I've spent ten minutes on both so far today and I'm already about to put my foot through my laptop (and I can't do that, because it belongs to the company!)

@Keef @Glinner I thought it was a solid game with some bold narrative decisions. A few pacing issues at the start and the end, but otherwise very good. Didn't hit me quite as hard as the first. I'm not sure any game will ever be able to.Obviously going to avoid all spoilers etc.

I might be a bit weird though, I enjoyed the slow start, mostly. I also enjoyed the slow start of RDR2 so I guess I must just be some sort of gaming sloth. It definitely could have got going sooner though. @Glinner @Keef
