@lowqualityfacts it's trying to reach the sun, so it can melt and turn into water. Pretty sure that's how science works.

Dresden. On the Elbe. It's still pretty cold, but it looks quite beautiful on a clear night.#Dresden

Having spent the first 40 years of my life in Australia, and now living overseas, I can honestly say that I am yet to really miss Australia. I still follow some Aussie sports, and have been cheering the Matildas on in the World Cup. And keep in touch with family etc.But the one thing that really evokes Aussie nostalgia, for me, is the sound of the Australian Magpie. From the fear I had of being swooped while riding my bike around as a kid, to loving having them around the garden and listening to their unique songs as an adult, they have always been there, and as I have grown, my appreciation and respect for them has grown also. So, of course, it was very easy to choose a favourite Australian animal sound. https://www.abc.net.au/news/science/2023-07-31/australia-favourite-animal-sounds/102577008#ABCAustralia #magpie #nostalgia

The weather wasn't playing along yesterday, so I couldn't get a very good photo of the Supermoon. However, one night later and the night sky was as clear as I could have hoped for. I'm still out of the city, and still have the telescope with me, so I thought I might as well see if I could get a nice photo tonight. It's not a perfect full moon, but still pretty nice, I think.#themoon

@Radical_EgoCom @pinkdrunkenelephants @peterg75 delegating responsibility for particular activities is always going to happen. It's unreasonable to expect everyone to be meaningfully informed about every decision. I think that's the problem I have with the idea of anarchist socialism (or communism, if you prefer). What is important, I think, is that no single decision maker should have absolute control over any particular decisions, or that no single decision maker should be able to be in a position where they can act without popular approval. Society should have as flat a structure as possible, but I think we got into this current paradigm due to the fact that most people are not that interested in decision making, they just don't want to be on the receiving end when it goes wrong. To that end, I think the State is a useful institution, but it needs to be controllable by the people

https://www.tagesschau.de/wirtschaft/verbraucher/supermarkt-vegan-100.htmlGerman supermarket chain Rewe has opened an all vegan store in Berlin! I'm not vegan myself, just vegetarian, but if I lived nearby, I would certainly shop there!
