@adam @dave and anyone else who follows: I’m finding I want to use Mastodon more and more for “general” stuff, but have been hesitating because my account here at podcastindex.social has, for better or for worse, seem to have become my “main” Mastodon presence. I don’t want to “clutter up” your home here with my drumming and Apple-geekery, at least not without your blessing. Should I just create a second account somewhere else and maintain both? What do y’all do? What do you recommend? Thanks!

@dave if you use Aggregate Audio Devices in your podcast setup, turn back now. Apple borked them and, thus far, has refused to acknowledge that it is anything other than “intended behavior”. Otherwise, it’s been OK for me on my non-podcast-studio Macs. Spotlight needs to be rebuilt regularly, but… ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@amerika @adam @csb Oh, I feel this!I’ve been the point person for our servers at all our businesses over the past few decades (including the entire time we started and ran @MacObserver), and yes… it is a thankless, unnoticed job.Unless there’s an issue. 🤣

@amerika @adam @csb @MacObserver I suppose that, in addition to being the point-person for the servers, also being the business owner might actually help in this regard.Because the business owner gets blamed for *everything* (and rarely pat on the back for anything), so it is all just kind of “the same.” 🤣 🍻

Has anyone successfully setup a Mastodon instance on their Synology Diskstation?I’m having trouble getting mine to connect successfully in the web browser (it launches fine). I’m using the Docker setup detailed by MariusHosting if that helps.

@NBS @adam @dave I wholeheartedly agree that Podcasting 2.0 is both fantastic and a necessary thing for our world.However, this particular functionality of tying images to chapters is something Apple pioneered (and the industry adopted) over a decade ago with the “other” chapters implementation, right?Or am I missing something?Because we’ve had chapters (with optional artwork) on @macgeekgab for almost all of our 18 years of the show.

@dave @Drebscott Oh, 100% agreed! I wasn’t challenging the benefits. Just making sure I wasn’t missing something about the net effect to the listener.And yeah, when we started chapterizing, it was being done by a listener, similar to what you describe. But I had to give him the finished audio file and *then* wait a day (or three) while he finished the work and posted it.And that meant all of our listeners had to wait to even listen.Your implementation solves that and then some! 🙌

@chidgey @dave Thanks! I run a Bitcoin and Lightning node on one of my DiskStations here, and I use a USB-attached SSD for the reasons you mention. Makes a huge difference.
