@futurebird it comes form PogChamp, which is an emote in twitch chat, as in you type it to make the emote appear. It’s some early streamer’s face. People used to use it depict something spectacular happening, like the streamer getting a difficult kill etc.PogChamp evolved to pog, became a meme in itself with mostly sarcastic uses, grew derivatives like poggers.

@futurebird You’re definitely not the only person who feels blocking is hard to pull the trigger on. I only block bigots, or people who blocked me so whenever I migrate servers I can take my blocklist with me and don’t have to interact with them again.Also my masto client @IceCubesApp shows mute options from 5 minutes to infinity.I usually use either 7 days or infinite.

@futurebird I agree with you on the notion that we’re not going to lose our industrial capabilities but I don’t think “end of industrial age” necessarily means going back to a previous age. I understand it to mean going into a new age from the one that’s marked by industrialization. When we transition into the post-industrial age, whatever that looks like, it’s still a new age.

@futurebird I’m with you completely.I’m strictly speaking about the phrase “end of the industrial age”.To me it means we completed the transition from a non-industrial civilization to an industrial one. Now that we’re an industrial civilization, the next step is to do something significant that will shape our world, but other than industrialization.

@futurebird I wanted to see a picture of earth and moon to scale with the distance between them. Turns out, our standard screen resolutions make this kinda impossible because drawn to scale, they need to be one pixel and smaller than one pixel to fit the distance between them on the screen.Isn’t that annoying?

@futurebird <I guess> part of it is that the right attracts the sort of person who’s constantly scared of everything including their own shadow and fantasies they concocted in the shower so the outrage comes easily to them. In contrast, when something bad actually happens, the left in general takes it solemnly and does what needs to be done without making a show of it.By their nature, left wing politics isn’t marketing material in the viral outrage algorithm paradigm.

Anyone calling for the 25th amendment to be invoked is someone who relies on your potential ignorance of the particulars of it to save face but actually doesn’t want to, or believes they are unable to, do anything.25th can only be invoked against a president’s will by the president’s cabinet, and has to go through both the house and senate by 2/3 majority, until it’s challenged by the president, at which point it needs to be voted on and passed again to keep a president from using their powers. It also doesn’t remove the title, just temporarily strips powers and gives them to the vice president.If you can 25th a president, you already can impeach and remove them. Calling for the 25th by anyone but the cabinet is theater.
