@lowqualityfacts When you put your head underwater, the water pressure stops 90% of your brain from working. That's why you stop breathing.

I've just had spam from social.fairphone.community -- screenshot attached. I've just contacted the instance admins. Meanwhile, you might want to be on the lookout in case it's part of a wider campaign.

@mansr I have a will so that, if I die before her, Mrs Wife gets everything without having to fight for it or worry about it. Everything else is secondary (so secondary that our wills are badly out of date). She has one for the same reason.https://www.gov.uk/inherits-someone-dies-without-will@neil

@lowqualityfacts I was sure you were His Holiness Pope Francis. So near, and yet so far away.

@lowqualityfacts Sweetcorn isn't the only dangerous crop. People have gone to prison after being covered in the blood from an exploding tomato. Police claim that 87% of people who grow tomatoes at home never eat them, and are only preparing an alibi.

@hollie Good post. Boosted.Actually, it's not only people with dyscalculia who benefit from speaking aloud when dealing with difficult problems. Everyone does. People who refuse to do it for fear of looking silly are less effective problem-solvers than they could be. So don't feel self-conscious about doing it when it helps!

@itnewsbot If you're in the UK and you haven't had two doses of the #MMR #vaccine, you can get them at any age, and the #NHS asks you to do so. I was born decades too early to have had them as a child. My first dose is booked this coming Friday morning, and my second just before Christmas. 🙂 https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/vaccinations/mmr-vaccine/"Anyone who has not had 2 doses of the MMR vaccine should ask their GP surgery for a vaccination appointment."

Here's what Mr Sunak is struggling not to say:Eat Out To Help Out bribed people to put their health at risk to help sustain the hospitality industry. It was a moderate success, which means that some people ate pub meals they wouldn't otherwise have eaten, some pubs did better than they would otherwise have done, some people caught Covid (and other) infections they wouldn't otherwise have caught, and some of those, almost certainly, died.TANSTAAFL.Pointing to other countries and saying they had more infections or more deaths is a distraction. Mr Sunak's scheme increased the amount of social contact in public spaces, and therefore the number of infections. It doesn't matter what happened in Italy. We're talking about the UK.Saying that pubs had reopened safely -- that's not even wrong: it's meaningless. Safety isn't binary, true or false, yes or no. One thing can be safer than other, or one risk can be more worth taking than another, but it's not the case that pub meals were dangerous in July and safe in August. Risk doesn't work that way. Going to the pub wasn't risk-free even before the pandemic, and it certainly isn't risk-free now.In truth, the scheme was a tradeoff that was probably in the pubs' interest but definitely not in the customers'. Participants took the £10 and gambled with their long-term health and even their lives. But hey, a pie and a pint, right?

@Edent @clive I've never drunk Red Bull, but I did hear an explanation once on Radio 4. The stimulants in Red Bull enable you to drink alcohol past the point where you would normally pass out. This makes the combination of Red Bull and alcohol especially dangerous.
