@boilingsteam I agree, you need to be willing to learn. To read. To pay attention to the warnings. Fail and get up again. My way to go.But I see when people do "normal" things, like installing a widely used program (steam), or updating their system (never change a running system 🙈) and these things completely bricking the PC with no clue what's going on, even making it necessary to reinstall the OS? That shows something went horrible wrong and it's not the users fault where the user should fail

@boilingsteam For Pop!_OS the issue was that the 32bit version of steam was never published, so it had to fall back to previous version to solve dependencies with lead to the uninstall of certain packages. It got fixed in the mean time, they even updated apt to not even allow the uninstall of those necessary packages anymore with just entereing "Yes, do as I say!" anymore.For Garuda I've heard it was a GPG key not being updated issues, which apparently occured already more than once.

@boilingsteam I know. I guess they know too :)Hey, they didn't gave up, they tried to solve those issues. I think after a while they also realized, what happened.But "we" (at least I) try to show that it's possible to play games on Linux and that it's not really that hard. Which... well indeed it isn't. For me. But maybe I'm already blind to certain issues, that totally need fixing. And yes, I want more people to use Linux, so we finally get official support from companies.

@boilingsteam LOL :DI'd have recommended Ubuntu to them. Or even plain Arch, when somebody helps them to at least show them the fast install script or tell them which packages to install. That's the only really tricky thing with Arch... what software to use, for what problem? I mostly knew from my experience, so it was easy to me. And the fast install script seems to do help in that regard as well (haven't tried it yet though).Why any of those two? Because Valve uses/recommends/supports them.

April fools! The Windows and Mac thing should've made it obvious 🤣I've chosen #Linux as my main OS, and I intend to keep it for everything, including #streaming and #gaming.And no, streaming is far away from paying the bills and I like my job, so I intend to keep that as well!

Excuse me @OnDeck@twitter.com... I just installed your #SteamOS 3.2 update on my #SteamDeck. After reboot I'm now greeted with grub. Selecting any entry results in an error.What happened here?

@boilingsteam My thought's exactly. I didn't unlock the filesystem nor did I enable developer mode. Just installed software that's vailable via discovery. I don't mind reinstalling SteamOS, but I'd like to know how this could happen.

@Afflicted @boilingsteam Sure "should" never happen. But things can go wrong. The question is more how to handle this error. And here Valve does everything right so far. They have a help site up, the recovery went straight forward, I didn't lose installed games nor settings. Was fixed within minutes. Flashing the USB drive took the longest time. Haven't heard from others yet having this issue, so maybe I'm the exception.People can also recover their iPhones ;)
