@clive I have to say I really really wanted to like DuckDuckGo and leave Google. It’s been my default browser for a couple of months now. But I do end up going to google many times a day since for research DDG doesn’t compare (even simple things like looking for an email address of a non-European academic) 😞

@clive @jasemrau as long as the task of the essay is to smoothly restate the obvious, GenAI will naturally perform better than secondary school level language learners. The problems begin when any degree of original thinking is involved, for instance, at the university level, when we no longer train the formal writing skills but also pay attention to the content…

I was watching that Netflix show about the history of life on earth, and the one fact that absolutely blew my mind was that the planet was covered by a carpet of lichen and moss and nothing else for 40 million years.40 million years of the moss’ rule.
