I saw an interview once with the guy that took this photo. It actually drove him to commit uninstall life. The person asked him "Why did you just take a picture? Why couldn't you help the child?" and he said that he'd seen so many people starving to death he knew that if he had all the food in the world to give to it that it was already too late, the child was past the point of being able to be saved.And this was 1984 so yeah, this was all we really knew about Africa. It was a better time tbh

In 1981 they built this thing. Over the years they have painted this thing every color of orange or yellow you can imagine, added the leaf, taken off the leaf, added multiple leaves. Hell they even painted it a solid color one year trying to hide the fact that it just looked like a giant ass. They finally gave up and went back to the original color

When someone says "It really wasn't any better in the 80s, you just have nostalgia" I remember my parents owning a 4 bedroom house with 2 living rooms, a pool, a motorcycle, 2 new cars, riding mowers, big screen TVs, all the latest shit with me always having nice clothes and video games. Cook outs every weekend with big ribeye steaks. With them doing it all on a combined income less than what I make with a single income and I can't do the same thing.

I grew up in the same neighborhood my grandparents lived in. I could walk from my parents to my grandparents in less than 3 minutes. We had ONE black family. They lived all the way at the end of the road. They were the only black family I was aware of anywhere near us and they were a family in the sense there were 2 kids with both a mother and father. The father was a brick mason by trade and the only reason he lived there was he did the brick for most of the neighborhood when it was built in the early 70s
