@textfiles@mastodon.archive.org @textfiles@digipres.club @mos_8502 I had horrible visions of turning page by page and holding down onto a flatbed scanner. I’m glad there’s a quicker way!

@textfiles Sadly the highest grossing movie of 2007 was Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End.

Amazing bundle. I’ve just bought Apache Strike for eye-watering money — fulfilling a huge ambition, so screw it — but the seller seems very reasonable and is going to re-list individually. https://www.ebay.com.au/ulk/usr/exaviouse?mkevt=1&mkpid=0&emsid=e11051.m44.l1181&mkcid=26&ch=osgood&euid=78935c9893b74e99856ec83b210c6f56&bu=43556648582&osub=-1%7E1&crd=20240322162015&segname=11051

@rms It isn’t really, or at least only temporarily — generally they’d be made a life peer and therefore enter the House of Lords. See David Cameron coming back as Foreign Secretary.

@ActionRetro I drove 7 hours for a LaserWriter I and 16 hours for two Macintosh portrait displays. This is the way.

@oysta They should be forced to use the pretentious newspaper form: “this masthead”. “This chatbot”? “This probability engine”? “This bullshit generator advises you to rent a fast car with no top.”

Okay, so this is a big addition to Macintosh Garden. Douglas Adams’ word processor which has been lost hitherto. https://bitbang.social/@macgarden/115316137545896767

@rms A big part of it is transitioning away from coal fired electricity — we can’t build renewables fast enough (for a variety of practical and political reasons), but coal plants are being shuttered. No domestic homes really need gas — we’d be better off paying to electrify them (as some jurisdictions here are doing).
