@chilady2022 See if you can go somewhere where you can cry it out instead of trying to suppress it. Crying helps release build-ups of chemicals and your head will be clearer if you let it run its course.

@chilady2022 I can understand that mentality: I think crying tends to rate pretty low on people's lists of enjoyable activities. By no means will you suddenly change your mind to "crying is beneficial and I feel totally okay doing it!".I can only tell you what I tell myself: that it's a failsafe, a warning from my body. If I cry from happiness or physical pain or something, then I just let it happen. But if it's from stress or some sort of emotional pain, then taking action to reduce those things will reduce my odds of crying about it.

@chilady2022 I'm not trying to be malicious and scare you but f you are actually an alcoholic, it's not safe to try and quit cold turkey. I've seen people have/ develop seizures from trying to do it.It's a really big step to only have one! Plenty of people have a beer after a hard day at work. Please make sure you get home safely!If you can, have some fruit or juice to help rehydrate yourself, and prepare some water for tomorrow morning just in case you wake up with a headache. Baby steps are still steps in the right direction :blob_cat_snuggle:

@tangleofsnakes I've never gotten the tingles that people describe, but there are certain parts of the genre I can appreciate: I enjoy "quiet cooking" videos where the asmr sounds are a natural result of the process. No excessive whispering, tapping, or (the absolute worst) chewing. I think they'd be helpful when trying to learn a new recipe without weird background music.

It's kind of a social faux pa to start talking about ideology to strangers, so I usually give a look to show that that was "too much information", to set a soft boundary. With masks, I'll also give a little "Oooohkay??" or "You said your name was (name)?" and then move on to the relevant task/information because that wasn't relevant to the interaction.I've also had not bad responses to making light jokes like "You don't do small talk/ pleasantries, huh?" or "Whoa, at least buy me a drink first! That's kind of intimate." But the key point is to immediately move on.

@fpcgggc @juneseed @Fullycaffeinated Be cautious with ginger if you haven't eaten in several hours. Anecdotally, the warming properties have made me feel *more* sick on an empty stomach.A few vloggers I watch have found success by eating small amounts more frequently. One woman would have a few saltines and water during the night so that she didn't have bad morning sickness, and another is spacing out her meals more frequently with a little bit extra protein (she'll be having twins).I don't know how well it would work for pregnancy, but the few times I've been nauseous have been helped with popsicles and taking a multi-vitamin daily. The vitamin has a mildly positive effect (so that if I forget one day it's not horrible), but I at least know it's not a vitamin deficiency should a problem arise in my body. For popsicles, I'd recomend the Outshine brand. They used to have a line of fruit and veggie popsicles that seem to be discontinued, but they still have ones with zero added sugar or protein in addition to the regular flavors they offer.Hope you don't feel as bad in the upcoming week!

@Fullycaffeinated @Ladyfat I used to use a lot of different brands, but in recent years I've condensed my skincare into mostly two brands: CosRx and Pacifica. Because I have drier skin, I use the Birch Sap moisturizer in the morning and the Hyaluronic Acid Intense Cream at night.

Does anybody know what happened to "Lesbian and Gay News"? I found it through Spinster sometime last year, I believe it was based out of the UK and had a lot of well-researched and written articles about the state-of-affairs affecting lesbian and gay men.Last I checked (about a month ago) it was still up, and today the link says it's no longer in publication.

@Gabble Depending on the age of the yeast, it could be dead, and adding more wouldn't solve the problem. If you still have some dough, put it in a bowl of warm water. If it floats and bubbles, the yeast is still alive. If it sinks, the yeast is dead.Once you buy new yeast, store it in the freezer in an airtight container and it will keep for several years (at room temp, it lasts roughly 6-8 months).When making bread, you can aid the yeast by warming the milk/water/liquid you use. The liquid should be above room temp and comfortable to put your finger in, and not steaming or warm enough for coffee/tea.Also, once the dough comes together and it's time to rise, cover the dough in a warm spot of the kitchen so it doesn't dry out too much.

@Blackgendermoderate I can think of 2 occasions, but I don't think either were with TIMs.1) Several years ago, I attended a Drag Charity event at the invitation of a loved one. At the time, I wanted to see what the fuss was about and to support the interest of the invitor. In the intro where people were advised how to interact with the performers and to turn off cellphones, they announced that all the bathrooms in the building would be "mixed" during the show to show support.I was already annoyed when intermission came around because a lot of the "queens" weren't very entertaining (seemed awkward in their outfits, not using the stage correctly, didn't engage with the audience, etc), and the one "king" decided to mime grinding on the male ASL interpreter which he had to ignore to maintain professionalism and left a bad taste in my mouth. But when I finally went, I noticed that only one line was semi-"mixed" and the other was "traditional". From what I could overhear from conversation, the mixed company were just gay men so I just bit my tongue and got it over with as quickly as possible.2) I was waiting to go into a film being shown at a local university. The bathrooms on that floor were "all gender" and Disability accessible. Each restroom had one large stall, three urinals, and two sinks. There are two of these restrooms next to each other. When I went in, nobody else was in there.However, once I'd gotten into the stall and sat down, some guy came in and used the urinal. I remember freezing and staring at his boots through the gap underneath the stall. I was honestly scared and angry. If I could see him, he could see me and have used the other room. At least he washed his hands.
