@textfiles yeah.. uh.. we once coated the magnetic disc inside in a thin layer of glue and crushed red match heads.. the idea was the drive would catch fire when you typed "mount /floppy" and it started to spin..

@stux I am not against nuclear energy, indeed if we have plants we should use them, we should extend the life of those we have too. However, the cost of nuclear generated electricity produced for the lifetime of a plant (include cost of construction, fuel and decommissioning) is far far higher per MWh produced than any wind or solar generator including the same life cycle costs. If we spend $1bn on offshore wind, we getmore, cheaper power than $1bn spent on a *new* nuclear plant.

@mlanger the thing in the video that really made me say "holy crap" out load was where she mentions all the university undergrad students now who have never read an entire actual BOOK from cover to cover. Simply because thier schooling has never required them to. only excerpts, quotes etc.

Inspired by the incredible artwork of @davidrevoy I got myself a graphics tablet and installed #Krita aiming to revive my own creativity.I have no art of my own to show for it yet, ... but while I was away cooking dinner my young artist daughter took up the stylus and produced this in about 5 minutes!

@davidrevoy so far ive just been blown away by the variable pressure and brush angle stuff, for years and years I have seen these things in Gimp or the wacom driver in kernel logs and thought it would be cool, very lucky to get this tablet for only £45.
